I love listening to Sohyang singing. She is a devoted Christian and gospel singer. Cancer survivor. She doesn't go for wealth and fame but to inspire and comfort people with her singing. She turned down overseas contracts offered to her. She rather serves God. She does all the arrangement of her songs. She was sick with pneumonia and doctor advised her not to sing but she did it. Just hearing the first stanza of a Sohyang song makes us understand that it's on a different level. Immediately

Sohyang has been singing for over 20 years. She joined a band called POS at about 19, and a year later married the drummer and discovered she had early stage ovarian cancer. While in an operation to remove the left side they also found it on the right so she woke up having both sides removed and sterile. She contracted hepatitis through this operation which left her with repeated bouts of pneumonia over many years -of which she was recovering from a bout here. The doctor had told her not to sing but she did anyway. Sohyang was a Christian before the cancer but devoted her life to singing for God and to heal and comfort people after she recovered. She is also a novelist and vocal teacher, an artist and all around very inspirational. Critic of Music placed her at star level next to Whitney but she remains still fairly unknown outside of South Korea because she is an independent artist who due to faith and health will never sign to a large label. She turned down Sony just last year. She came to global attention by entering 'I am a singer' and later these "Immortal Songs 2' Then 'King of mask Singer' and last year and this year was on 'Begin Again Korea'. She has done stage musicals, is the voice in many Kdrama songs and has some of her own music; she released 'Stay' last year. Very recently she did the official music for the environmental summit held in SK. There is both a video as well as the live stage for that out on KZfaq.

The only time Sohyang and Josh Groban performed together back in 2019 Josh sang "You Raise me Up" by himself but they sang "The Prayer" and "All I Ask of You" together and Sohyang soloed "In the Flower Garden".

There is some good information below, but I just wanted to point out that Sohyang is a University lecturers on music and voice, a song-writer, and she does her own arrangements for her on-stage performances. It's always delightful to hear the Queen(Kim) Sohyang and it's not known to many that when she performed this 'you raise me up' her condition wasn't the best, she had bad Pneumonia but she took a medicines to finish what she has started. No body will believe this after hearing her sing bcuz I also didn't when I heard the story. You could do more of her performance. :)

At that time, she got pneumonia She barely spoke a word, her condition was so so bad 😭😭😭😭 After singing, she disappeared almost 2years. So when i listened this song, i cant stop crying. She is an unbelivable singer ...

Later on in an interview, she said the condition of her voice was absolutely the worst (due to recurring pneumonia) when she sang this. It was so bad that she had to skip the rehearsal. So this performance was done without the proper rehearsal, just one take on the fly. Now tell me if that's possible.
