Hey Mike ! I just wanted to let you know something really great about you and your channel. Your voice and mannerisms are VERY soothing and relaxing. And the truth is that I have thrown out ALL of my "get to sleep" vids I used to listen to on KZfaq, and as I'm retiring for the night, I load your channel just to listen to you and watch the scenery. Pretty soon my eyelids are drooping and I'm watching with one eye open, your voice and sounds of the road lulling me to sleep. So I almost never see your longer videos entirely through. And I just load them up again, kinda where I left off next time I need a nap, or head to bed for the night. This is just very healthful in my view, and I so look forward to each new video you put up. I especially like your knowledge and commentary on the towns and cities you roll through, and particularly the back streets, industrial areas, and nearby residential areas if you're in a city. I actually think you could monetize by adding increasing amounts "tour guide" like stuff in the mix. You know, having the best knowledge you're able to acquire about the next little town you're passing through and so on, because you have an awesomely soothing voice and it's super welcome to hearing your commentary each and every day. And the great scenery is a bonus. I wouldnt spend a great deal of time editing Mike. Film relentlessly, comment as much as you can, and post it. And stop and see me next time you're in Wichita. PLEASE ! Grin.

Remember the days when there was no limit of speed through desert areas of Nevada. Drove to Vegas years back and drove 100-110 mph in a car.

I drove over 100 mph downhill on a semi paved country road with a well-used rental car a long time ago. Everything was great until I rode over a cattle guard made out of railroad track. I damned near lost control of the car, even though the other guys in the car did not seem to know it. I knew better than to hit the brakes as you mentioned time and again. I never drove that stupid again.

Did that at 120 mph average, at night, 1968 in Nevada with a 1959 Thunderbird. Just kind of sketchy when a semi comes your way at that speed on a two lane highway.

In summer of 1989 my entire family went to eastern Colorado to celebrate my grandparents' 60th anniversary. We sort of caravaned, with my brother's family in one car, my husband and I in our car with our 6-month-old son, and my parents and sister in theirs pulling the travel trailer. Because we don't like actual caravans, we all ate breakfast and dinner together, and spent the nights in the same place, but did not drive together. On the trip back to L.A., my brother and I split off and headed to Sacramento to visit more family. We took U.S. 50 westbound. We actually stopped at Great Basin National Park shortly after it became a National Park. We were amazed that although it was July 4th, we had a choice of campsites among the trees next to the creek. This would never happen in southern California! I suppose you could fish there, too. For breakfast, we packed and headed into Ely. My husband and I will always remember The Diaper Change at Ely. 'Nuf said about that. I regret that we switched from U.S. 50 to I-80 near Fallon. Otherwise, I could say that we've driven the entire stretch of U.S. 50 from Manzanola, Colorado to Sacramento.

Hi Mike: nice video, thanks for posting. Road had a little more traffic than usual? For a two lane road it’s seems to be in good shape unlike a lot of secondary roads in this part of the country. Rout 66 although popular is in, for the most part, terrible condition. I guess because it parallels rout IH40 it doesn’t get much care. Have a safe trip back to Denver, we’ll catch you on the next trip. Edward

Ultralights are very fun, but from what I've learned of your tenacity a pilots license is within your grasp. Two hours a week and not a huge amount of money, you'll have a private pilot in a couple years. You can buy a certified airworthy cessna 150 or grumman american t for really reasonable prices. Why spend that on an ultralight when you can have an airplane

Driving & O-O days: 1971-1990: I used to park next to the dynamite/high explosive trucks that were allowed at certain truck stops. Usually didn't have unwanted company (lizards or the unfumigated cattle pots that always arrived late when everyone was bedded down or those g--damn reefer units that ran all night long right next to your bunk flap) or any other rig parking within 100 yards, lol. It was great. Total privacy. Too bad you can no longer finesse the log books nowadays with Big Brother's tracking gadgets. Used to a person could fudge the extra time just a little adjusting the logs plus many authority figures back then were a shade more pragmatic re what it takes to run a business versus being total A-Ws. Miss the life to some degree but do not miss the BS that accompanied it. Mexican O same as Georgia O if you get my drift. I always worried my steer wheel would explode or flatten when I was at high velocity: can be fatal when you're in a COE flat face KW. Did get a steer wheel flat tire when driving. Luckily it occurred on an onramp at 20 mph instead of cruising at 60+. Sure beat the crap out of my front bumper before I was able to stop. Love your shows, love your politico commentary too.
