that is not hijab thats just a head scard.. hijab in arabic means cover, screen or barrier which blocks others see your body and face .. Allah says in surat Al - AHZAB :59 " O Prophet, tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to bring down over themselves of their outer garments. That is more suitable that they will be known and not be abused. And ever is Allah Forgiving and Merciful". Arab women Used to cover their head before islam.. later Allah in Quran Asked Muslims women to bring down that cover until it covers the whole body including face( they wore big amount of fabric thats why they can use it)
