Have you ever seen Hikaru play? This man single-handedly adopted Naroditsky like it was nothing. Don't get me wrong, Magnus is an extraordinary player, but no one can wipe Hikaru out like its nothing.

Its hard to beat (almost impossible) to beat a magnus who is in shape, but hes unconsistent. Naka is in bad shape when it doesnt matter, but when it most matter, Magnus got nervous, even if he denies it. I think they both are at the same level, but Naka is faster, he just premoves everything effortlesslly and it can be desicive just as against MVL

well, last year in 5+1 it was 6.5 - 2.5 to Hikaru. Magnus cant let that happen again if he wants to win. But its gonna be close, so i can't wait. Friday is forever from now.

magnus was on tilt that time, hanging up pieces for no reason, Magnus today is the best that i've seen in terms of Blitz. .

@@Wanderpupil While i agree and in my view he is unbeatable like this, i noticed the last few years he isnt mentally as stable as he once was, which makes him potentionally beatable. One of the factors i feel contributes to this is his partying and overal shift from chess to "enjoying life". Its understandable for sure, especially for a guy who literally won everything, but nevertheless it does seem to have negative effect on his mentality. He seems more fragile. And i see other factors as well but not gonna dive into details. Im not a therapist lol We will have to wait and see who he feels tomorrow. Only that will determine the outcome.

Why people calls magnus victory already, Magnus is unconsistent compared to Naka. I dont know who is the best at his best, but i know Naka is more consistent when it comes to being in shape

Want to mention few facts here, Hikaru is probably greatest bullet player of all time, and its been tested countless times. However Magnus has improved and drastically evolved his bullet chess with incredible fast instinctive tactical ability and positional play within fractions of second, we have seen glimpses of that in the last bullet chess championship couple of a months ago and how he obliterated speed demon players like Danya and Alireza plus doing really great against Hikaru despite losing the match in the final. Also want to emphasise that Magnus can draw lot of inspiration from winning the Chess World Cup and the latest Julius Baer cup where he defeated Pragg and Alireza in finals respectively . He looks pretty much on a high spirit and good memtality. Saying all that, it will be a very close match, but i am opting for Magnus to win SCC

Hikaru is the better bullet player, but I’d take Magnus on blitz, especially with increment. I’ll say Magnus wins, but it’ll be close.

@@lh5717 Yeah that’s why I take Magnus overall with the increment. I think they’re pretty even on 1+1, slight edge to Magnus on blitz w/ increment. But could go either way, not expecting a big score difference unless one of them gets frustrated and loses a bunch in a row..

@@Spartacus11 We can see that Hikaru can do well with increment as well though. He beat Magnus 5.5 to 2.5 in the 5+1 section last year but he let off the gas and just barely won the match. This year's match depends on if Magnus is in form, and if Hikaru is in form.

All true. He is the favorite against Magnus and another thing going on for him is that he almost always plays to the best of his abilities, unlike Magnus who is more inconsistent, having good and bad days.

I am rooting for Hikaru, but I wouldn't say he always plays to the best of his abilities. What I've noticed is that Hikaru starts off on fire, and then he lets off the gas. Like in both the SCC and the BCC Hikaru had a huge lead over Magnus at first, but there is something about Magnus where he just doesn't tilt like the other players and amounts huge comebacks, but then Hikaru usually sees that Magnus is coming back and starts to turn it on again.

Nobody refers to Magnus as GM, just as they do with other GMs, even he is no longer World Champion they know he is just the goat.

People don't realize how difficult is playing at this level without using your best tactics because you need to hide it from statistical analysis. Hikaru is playing thousand of games each week and he can expose him self to deep analysis that give a huge advantage to other players playing against him. To avoid this he play non sense games tactics@ even in tournament to produce "noise" in the data to avoid that advanced statistical analysis will reveal a pattern. No point to win battles if at the end you lose the chanches the win the war.

You're just using scientific gibberish to taik bullshit, i don't think you actually play chess at all. There are no "hidden tactics" in chess, the only thing you hide is opening prep for major tournaments (definitely not this one) which all the top players are already doing. You sound like the Max Deutsch guy who claims he could create an algorithm to beat Carlsen. There is no deep analysis to be done at this time control. There is no "noise" that Hikaru is doing. There are no "secret patterns" to be revealed. At most he would play different openings like he did against Yu Yangyi to have fun.

@@pepeverse2997what he’s talking about is opening preparation. I mean although Naka is much more exposed today because he’s streaming, still, it’s not like he’s unknown to top players. These elite players knows each other well and on what lines that they go for in specific opening. So I would say it doesn’t have tremendous factor for Hikaru to lose in matches
