Join me as I hike, fish, camp and clamber over trail obstructing obstacles on my trek to the Bagby recreation area from the Railroad Flat trailhead. I out did myself with a fantastic steak dinner and also hiked out in an early Spring rainstorm, which made this a trip to remember. I thoroughly enjoyed this section of river that I had never seen before.

Thank you very much! The goal is to make each video better than the last. Also towards the end of April the Tuolumne Valley in Yosemite National Park becomes accessible (the access highway closes due to snow every winter). It's an absolutely stunning place and I can't wait to record some videos up there.

I'm glad traversing that tree over the trail didn't take you out.

Going up and around the tree would have been a steep, muddy and super slick hillside. Everything below the tree was even steeper with some jagged rocks, so luckily I was able to squeeze through the tree. Could have been worse!

If all goes right you'll get your wish. For my next trip I'm planning on taking a canoe to a nearby lake. So hopefully I can get into some trout. Thanks for watching!

This ribeye that I cooked was medium rare. That’s how I prefer my ribeyes as it allows the fat in the steak to break down and be delicious. Rare is my top choice, especially with fillets, with a chilled center.

My favorite river ill be visiting soon for some gold mining right on. best time for fish is sun up small mouth and trout are usually abundant a white black spotted rooster tail work the best I found. You walked over millions and millions in gold in some areas, the red dirt or red bank areas where they hydraulic mined for nuggets and down deep in the river is tons of gold inaccessible with out dredges which is now out lawed in california

The history of the Merced River Canyon runs deep. The only things left of the town of Bagby, the railroad, countless mining operations, are remnants of foundations and bits of metal. It would have been incredible to see a train running to El Portal and beyond.
