Hiking COMBE MARTIN to ILFRACOMBE on the SW Coast Path National Trail

Join us as we continue our 630 mile hike of the South West Coast Path National Trail in England. In October 2023 we spent a long sunny weekend in Devon, with the aim of completing further stages of this amazing route. In this vlog, we take a misty hike from Combe Martin to Ilfracombe, taking in Hele Bay Beach on route, or as we would like to call it, the Road to Hele!
The statue in Ilfracombe -
Verity is a stainless steel and bronze statue, located on the pier at the entrance to Ilfracombe harbour. Created by Damien Hirst, the name of the piece refers to Truth and Justice.
The statue depicts a pregnant woman holding aloft a sword while carrying the scales of justice and standing on a pile of law books. Half of the sculpture shows the internal anatomy of the pregnant woman, with foetus clearly visible.
We plan to complete the entire route over coming months between work and everyday life, plus for logistical reasons, we may complete different stages of the route and fill in the gaps as we go along! We’ll share the entire route, interesting points of interest, plus if we feel it appropriate, we’ll also point out recommended accommodations and places to eat!

Love your videos. So enjoyable because you actually show the path. Too many people post videos with endless footage of themselves so you don't get to see the scenery. Your commentary is pitched just right, pointing out points of interest and names of places. The info about where you park and take the bus is really useful too. Look forward to your next stretch.

well the first half of the "Trail" is almost filled in, another good hiking video and always cool to see the little villages you pass through

We are up to date with your SWCP videos now! They’ve been great viewing. We are so impressed by your ability to chat to camera as you walk along, it’s something we found quite difficult. So our videos are mostly silent (well apart from the narrative that’s added in edit!). We are now onto your Madeira videos and will post a comment shortly!

I stumbled across this video, thank you for this! It instantly brought back memories of my first 2 years as a uniformed Police Officer in Ilfracombe early 1990s. By the way, it's pronounced Hele Bay as in the 'heel' of a foot, you did make I laugh as they say in Devon! So much has changed but 'plus ca change, plus c'est la meme chose'!
