HIKING IN SAMARIA GORGE | CRETE GREECE | Mountains, Ruins, Beaches & Epic Views

Today we're hiking in Samaria Gorge on the island of Crete in Greece. It is the longest gorge in Europe with a length of 16km, starting with an altitude of 1,230m. It is 150m at its widest, 3m at its narrowest, and is the most impressive gorge in all of Greece. Join us on one the best adventures we've had on our trip as we climb the highest mountains on Crete, trek down a massive gorge, swim in the clearest water we've ever swam in, and ferry along the southern shore of Greece's biggest island. It was a breathtaking day to say the least. Another big thanks to Fantasy Travel for making this happen!

We met at LaSalle Secondary School in Kingston Ontario and we’ve been together for almost 9 years now. Keith comes from a bilingual military family and Devon from a Kingston family of teachers. We made it through Queen’s University together where Keith studied Mechanical Engineering and Devon, Concurrent Education and Global Development. How long did it take you to hike?

I think it took us about 5 hours of hiking then we got to spend about 2 hours at the beach before heading back :)

This is amazing can you tell me how to get the boat from there to where ? And any information to stay there near the beach that you swim please ?

You can book this exact day tour with Fantasy travel which is linked in the description below on their site. The bus ride and boat and bus ride back is all part of it! You could stay on that beach Agia Roumeli and take the ferry to Sougia and then a bus back into Chania from there if you want to do it yourself. Thanks for watching!

Are there any restroom stops? Or it is best to take a huge dump before you go?

Lol hi Ben, there’s a bathroom at the pit stop on the way, one at the park entrance, some outhouses along the trail and bathrooms at the restaurants along the beach. We always carry tp just in case though. Thanks for watching!
