It is INEXCUSABLE that you guys don't have a show on PBS or Netflix or Discovery Channel or something!!! The product you're creating is SO much better than 95 percent of what's being aired. We should start a petition to make that happen!

the Alum Caves trail up to Le Conte was my grandfather's favorite hike. He'd hike it up, have a snack while looking at the view, and then right back down the same day. The last time he hiked it was on his 89th birthday. He so badly wanted to make it on his 90th, but sadly he was too ill at that point. If he were alive today he'd be over 100, and I'm sure he'd still be talking about wanting to get back on this trail; it was his absolute favorite place to be.

Thomas makes Andrew the best cup of coffee you can have on the trail, fresh ground beans and run through an Aero Press, and Andrew is like, "It's good." Like, it is just a little better than instant. I have seen Andrew drink fungus tea and say "It's good" with as much enthusiasm. I no longer trust Andrew's taste buds, lol. I enjoy the ritual of making a fine cup of coffee too Thomas. Next time maybe try BRCC Just Black coffee. If Andrew does not groan with pleasure with that cup, he has been replaced by an alien and you must find and rescue the real Andrew.

The beans looked shit, if you have fancy tools and shitty beans then you'll have shitty coffee, it's all about the beans, hence why Andrew probably didn't enjoy it as much. Get some bomb beans first if you're going to go through that much trouble.

Seeing the thru hiker bubble at the shelter made me nostalgic and reminded me of my attempted thru hike I did ten years ago. I stayed at that same shelter around the same time of year and had the exact same kind of weather until the next day... My hiking buddy and I got an early start in the rain. By the time we reached Charlie’s Bunion the rain turned to sleet and by the time lunch rolled around the sleet turned into white out snowy conditions. It was getting dangerous so we stopped at Cosby Knob Shelter, short of our desired destination, around 2pm. We were the only hikers at the shelter and we both passed out from exhaustion until around 6pm when we were awakened by a folksy guy smoking a pipe, playing a wonderful original song on his guitar. We looked around and the shelter was PACKED, nobody wanted to stay in a tent in those weather conditions, but we didn’t mind at all because nothing beats the camaraderie of thru hikers and that song on that guitar was the first music we had heard since the start of our hike a few weeks back (neither of us carried ipods and this was before smartphones). The next day we had learned that someone ahead of us on the trail had died overnight which humbled us even more than the snow did the previous day. Our spirits weren’t too dampened though because by the time we exited the official park boundaries and got to Standing Bear Hostel it was 70 degrees and the snow had all melted away. Talk about crazy weather! I saw the guitar player a few more times in the months following those few days and I always asked him to play that song he played on that snowy night in the shelter, and since I had no other music to listen to I memorized that song the best I could and would always sing it to myself while walking down the trail. Nowadays I play live acoustic music around town and I cover a version of that song the best I could remember it. Every time I play it I’m reminded of that magical time I had on the trail, specifically that snowy night in the Smokies. Thank you guitar playing guy wherever you are. I think your trail name was “Red Beard” or something. My trail name was “Gump” if any of you 2011 people see this and remember me.

Sooo this is my first ever KZfaq comment on any video, and I figured that if I’m going to finally get off my butt and start letting the content creators I regularly watch know that I value their content, I’d start with you guys. What started as “find something relaxing and boring to fall asleep to” turned into “this is much too captivating, now I must watch the entire thing” very early on. And here we are years later, still constantly checking to see when the newest video will be released. You guys are so relatable and great at what you do. You’ve inspired me to start creating my own content because I don’t see enough people that look like me creating the kind of content I like to watch. Just wanted to say thanks for doing what you’re doing in the way you’re doing it. You guys are awesome.

You guys are the best, great Smoky Mountains show. The four of you rock with the short skits you do at the end, excellent comedy. This one was no exception!

I am in a group that hikes up to the Mt. LeConte Lodge every August. You made the right choice hiking Boulevard in and Alum Cave down. I guess I'm one of the "old people" you referenced hiking up Alum Cave. The Lodge is a unique place and the beauty of Mt LeConte is a site to behold! Thanks for sharing!

I did this hike to Mt. Le Conte in 2019 but I started on the other side by rainbow falls. I have to say Cliff Tops was my favorite part. Your sunset and sunrise videos were also my favorite part! Those are my all time favorite moments to experience on a camp trip. I also did the Alum Cave bluff hike that was pretty spectacular as well. Thanks for sharing your funny and inspirational moments. I especially love your shout outs at the end! They get more and more hilarious!

This is genuinely not meant to be a negative criticism, but I'm surprised by how little you guys know about hiking the AT. I've never done a thru-hike and most likely never will, but since a lot of the backpacking content on the internet, especially KZfaq, is created by thru-hikers, I've learned a bit about it over the years. I live in Maryland and have easy access to the AT, but I try to avoid camping on it in mid Spring just to give the thru-hikers their space. Then again, I'm a flaming introvert and that's certainly part of it too. Anyway...great video! Glad you guys had fun.

You've learned a bit about thru hiking on youtube yet you've never done it and you're somewhat bashing that they don't know enough about it to your standard of liking, wth.....they're out there actually doing it and they've done it for a decade or more.

@@jt_on_youtube You got me all wrong, man. I'm not bashing them at all. I'm just saying that I'm surprised that after a lot of years backpacking, they haven't just naturally come into contact with more thru-hikers and thru-hiking content. AA is in a class of their own in terms of the kind of adventurers they are, and that's why they're so entertaining to watch. Thru-hiking is a different animal entirely, and it's not better or worse, just like they say in the video. I was just surprised. That's all.

I was in Smoky Mountains with my friends on 30 and 31st and man was that a great experience filled with some dumb decisions, adventures and breathtaking views. We had camping spots reserved at cosby campground but decided to watch sunset at clingman dome. The hike itself is a nice and short concreate road but we were out of breath by the time we reached to the observation tower. The view was so beautiful and majestic. The whole valley ahead of us was covered in clouds. Like it was a huge sea of clouds and mountain tops were popping out like islands in sea. And the sun was setting spreading its golden hue all over the scenery. We climbed down, bought some dinner and firewood at Gatlinberg and reached cosby campgrounds. I kid you not we were setting camp at midnight (that was dumb thing to do ngl but was fun). While setting up we heard this loud scream that was not human like or animal like. We got scared and darted to hide in our car. Few campers came out with their flashlights to see what was that sound. After gathering some courage we got out, finished the camp and went to sleep right away. But then we heard the same high pitched scream again. This time there was sound of few twigs breaking close to our tent. Thinking back it might have been fox that must be screaming. It was a fun trip and enjoyed every bit of it. Maybe next time we would do Mt. Le Conte.
