Hiking the GDT, Section C (2020) Day 1 | AKA The Rockies Expedition

3 жыл бұрынWatch as Liam and I embark on our most ambitious backpacking trip yet, The Rockies Expedition. Section C of the GDT was close to home, and it visited a lot of areas where we had spent our last few years hiking and skiing. The Great Divide Trail made for an excellent send off from high school as we each head off to university this fall. One last epic high school adventure, and it really was epic.
Day 1:
- Start from the Ottertail River Trailhead (which we didn't, we missed it and started at a bridge over the river and had to bushwack to find the trail)
- Hike 14.4km SE from the trailhead to McArthur Creek Campground in Yoho National Park
- Set up camp (more like borrow camp) and dive into the dehydrated meals!

Have you completed any parts of the GDT? How did you like the trail?

You don't "take" a dump, you leave a dump, taking them is just gross. 😉🏕

Ya my pack got pretty heavy and stinky by the end of the trip... 🙃

I can see why you wouldn’t want to sleep on those tent pads. Hope no one was sleeping there when the trees fell. Why are you taking drone shots in a national park?

Down here in the States it's a huge fine from the Parks and possible ban from NPS, and then you have the FAA which is cracking down on KZfaqrs for not having their commercial drone pilots license. YT is considered "commercial content" even though you are not getting paid or monetized yet. I am working on my license, and until then I won't fly, video and post. Not worth the $$$ fines.
