Hiya Paddy. Always love your intros. Stunning. Gorgeous views on your hike. Respect you for all the different camera angles. Especially when you are feeling unwell. Your backpack looks the perfect size. The clouds make it look all very mystical. The gentleman that passed you. With his walking sticks looked fit. I bet the air smelt and felt amazing. I know you love to do these things by yourself. But I bet it did feel eerie at times. I would worry I would get lost. Especially all the clouds. Switzerland is very expensive. Lovely room. Love it had a spa. Amazing views. I hope the weather got better for you. Thank you for taking us along. Always a next-level adventure. Wishing you a wonderful week.

Clouds.... When I made my first trip to the Pacific Northwest, I didn't get to see one single mountain. Thankfully the last time I visited Seattle I did get to see Mount Rainier - but there was still so much snow that the trails I wanted to hike were closed. I try to keep a positive attitude though and remind myself that there is always the next time.... Clouds, be gone! 😁

Paddy, sorry your hike started with being sick, get well, my friend. I'm sure you'll have sunny days and healthier times ahead, so keep positive. This scenery was EPIC, regardless. When I was 9000-feet high in the Alps, in Pinswang and then Reutte, Austria, I named the mist as "Magic Mist," because it was magical to see it 'roll over' and down the tops of the jagged Alps snow covered peaks. I'm sure you'll still have days like this start, but also have some incredible crystal clear Alpine mountain air and sunny illness-free days as well. Jägermeister has many healing properties, so have just a bit (lol) each day to 'recover' from any of the ills you encounter. 😊 Stay Healthy, Happy and Safe, my friend.

Great video. You’re in my favorite part of Switzerland, but glad you’re moving away from the crowds. The typical tourist spots can be maddening with them and usually just 10 minutes away is quiet, pristine beauty. Unfortunately the beauty of the mountains makes them vulnerable to changing weather as you know. A couple of years ago on a particularly rainy trip I was a bit chagrined because of the clouds whilst hiking to the Oeschinensee, knowing that I was missing extraordinary vistas. But I started focusing on the little things-the wisps of clouds, wildflowers peeking through, even water droplets on said wildflowers and it changed my whole perspective. You caught some beautiful shots you wouldn’t have had if it weren’t cloudy. As I watched I was walking on my treadmill getting ready for my trip back in just 40 days. Thanks for taking me along-I just pretended I was walking with you 😊

I've been in the White Mountains of New Hampshire for the last four days. Of course the scale and magnificence of the Alps makes the NH Mountains seem like simple little hills, as beautiful as they are, but can not compare in scale. Until today, the weather here has been raining sometimes very heavily. So sight seeing has been limited but hiking by the local rivers has been spectacular with all the water in the rivers and over the rocks. I guess one could not happen without the other so I will take the blessing where I can get it! I know you do the same Mate so thanks for bring us along and the very valuable tips!

John, not sure where you are now, but NH White Mountains aren't Alps-like. You need to travel North, up to Vermont, specifically Stowe, VT. It's where the von Trapp family settled, and some of their offspring still have/run a resort there (Trapp Family Lodge) that is by far, extremely beautiful (even after fire ruined original Lodge in 1980) (a wee bit expensive) but def. worth a visit. Their Tea Room, (now a Lounge/Giftshop is where Maria (prior to her passing in 1987) and then Leisl (sp.) frequently spoke w/guests. I met Maria von Trapp in the Tea Room in 1978. The main reason Werner and Maria von Trapp chose to settle in Stowe, Vermont, is that it was most like the Alps to them, being from Austria and the Alps.

You are absolutely right that the White Mountains are nothing like the Alps. I did not mean to make such a comparison just a passing reference. Just trying to put this in context and bring my current experience into Paddy's current Vlog. I lived in Vermont for a few years and in Switzerland both Geneva and Zurich for work for a few years too.

For people watching this video and wanting to visit Wengen, most of the tourist go to the small church, the view is good from there but the most beatiful view is just a few minutes from the church. You just have to take right before the church and walk 8 min to the Moenchblick, it's the most beautiful view of Wengen and it's not as crowded as the church.

You may be under the weather however hiking through the forest will boost your immunity and help you recover your viral/bacterial infection speedily. Exposure to forests boosts our immune system. Phytoncides have antibacterial and antifungal qualities which help plants fight disease. When people breathe in these chemicals, our bodies respond by increasing the number and activity of a type of white blood cell called natural killer cells or NK.

I find your explanations really helpful and I like your concise details and since my middle son 20, had an ankle injury playing basketball two weeks ago, he can walk but not apply much effort up/down hill. We will be in the Spiez/Lauterbrun/Grindelwald areas and hopefully will all go well. Which are the places you can hire a bike or something similar on a flat hike up or down the mountains?

Staying hydrated helps your body naturally eliminate the bacteria and toxins that cause infection. With the help of water, oxygen and nutrients are distributed throughout the body, and waste material is flushed out from the body. Thus, it helps keep diseases at bay. long-term alcohol use can make a person 3-7 times more susceptible to viral and bacterial infections, including colds. Yes, alcohol can dehydrate you. Alcohol is a diuretic. It causes your body to remove fluids from your blood through your renal system, which includes the kidneys, ureters, and bladder, at a much quicker rate than other liquids.

Great series Paddy. You should check out the half fare card. It valid for a month 120 chf so you buy it first then everything after that is half price when you show that card. I am going to purchase the half price card and the. Purchase the Berner overland card for half price check it out. Also that Jungfrau ticket would have been half price and you would have paid for the half price card with what you paid for the Jungfrau train. everything would be half price. I have also watched Karl’s videos too. It was Loverly when he shared the journey with his mum. We all learn from each other.

Is Everest the hardest hike? K2 is a monster and it's widely considered the world's toughest and most dangerous mountain to climb. Located on the border of Pakistan and China, it's the second highest in the world, standing at a whopping 8,611 meters (28,251 feet)-just around 250 meters shorter than Mount Everest. Is Everest technically difficult? Overall, climbing Mount Everest is an extremely demanding and dangerous undertaking that requires a high level of fitness, experience, and determination. It is not a climb that should be taken lightly. Even highly experienced climbers face serious challenges and risks when attempting to reach the summit. Can you climb Everest without acclimating? Climbing Mount Everest needs an acclimatization period of 3 to 4 weeks between 3000 and 6000 m. What is the hardest thing about climbing Everest? Altitude sickness is the prime challenge for climbers of Mt. Everest. It's what intimidates trekkers and compels them to give careful thought before taking further steps. Acute mountain sickness in Everest usually results from low air pressure and rapid temperature changes.

I love your videos, really enjoy following your trips and adventures. But the endless complaining, nagging and reflections really destroy your videos. You should change the focus and keep some of the negativity to yourself. Keep making videos and show us more places. 👏😊💯

I appreciate you like my channel but to be honest, the fact I speak my mind, share the emotions I go through, and commentate the process from my point of view…. that is what makes this channel what it is.

Just awestruck with the views mate. Your hike is just that buddy, yours. Make sure your looking after yourself. Lemsip if you can find it aomewhere. Or Vicks and put that on the soles of your feet, chest and poke a little up your nostrils. Youll thank me later. 👍😉

Sorry, Paddy - but if you’re sick with a fever, going on train and being in public without a mask is kinda sucky for others 😢

I’ve been following you for a while now. Don’t get offended but your Switzerland episodes has been very boring. I really don’t find the stuff that you do, say, or where you go really that interesting. Not quite your Bali or Philippines adventures where you discover new things or talk about your bad or good experiences that are worth listening to. I guess you should have made all Swiss episodes into one. I thought you’d do great but not this time. Hope you get your mojo back.

Sucks that you pay that much to get sick. Too bad you cannot sue the hostel. Something sinister about the people in Switzerland.

You could have bought he Swiss Rail pass. Most trains, buses, boats are free and you would have saved 25 percent on the train to JF.
