We only had one day in Arches National Park. So, naturally, we decided to see if we could hike to all the arches in Arches NP in just a single day- over 20 miles and 2000FT of climbing in 100+F heat.
There is just one main road in Arches, so our goal was to do all the hikes in Arches that are along this road. For those interested, this was our hiking route:
1. Devil's Garden/Primitive Trail Loop: Includes Landscape Arch, Wall Arch, Navajo Arch, Partition Arch, Double O Arch, Private Arch, Pine Tree Arch, and Tunnel Arch
2. Walk through the Devil's Garden campground to the Broken Arch Loop Trail: also includes Tapestry Arch, Skyline Arch, and Sand Dune Arch
3. Delicate Arch out and back: includes Twisted Doughnut Arch
4. The Windows Loop: Included North Window, South Window, and Double Arch
5. Park Avenue - technically not an arch, but come on! You can't miss Park Avenue :)

Arches' day time weather can be absolutely brutal. It's extremely exposed and just soaks up and radiates all that heat. But one of my favorite memories of all time is a hike out to delicate arch in the middle of the night with a group of friends. And we just sat inside the arch and watched the moon and stars for hours. As a fellow Adam, I approve of your "shortcut." Distance is shorter, not necessarily time. :D

That's up there with the "step on a baby" quote. The entire drive on route 12 from Bryce, to rt. 24 at Torrey, then E. to Hanksville, and S. on rt. 95 - is one of the most incredible drives I've ever been on. Off 95 N. of Blanding is also Natural Bridges National Monument. An hour S. of Blanding is Monument Valley - VIVA UTAH!!! My favorite State. Try to go in the Fall, when the leaves are changing, and the cottonwoods and aspen are ablaze with color - and it's not 104 F.))). I was on my move to the E. coast, and planned to go thru Monument, then to Albuquerque to visit a friend - but NM was shut down due to COVID - so had to backtrack up to I-70 to cross the Rockies. It took me thru Moab and past Arches, but my timetable wouldn't let me stop. Thanks to you - I now feel as if I've seen the park on my own 2 feet. Bless you both, Adam & Elise! Sorry for the long comment - 1 more thing - are you familiar with the couple that do the SUV RVing website? You two are just insane! Hiking (running) in 100+ temperatures! I was there years ago and you bring me back! I love seeing the arches once again! When I was there it was in September and the temps were not as hot as what you two endured! Probably in the 80's. I recall two things I did, Park Avenue, where we met a young woman who camped out in her tent there and she hiked along with my friend Harry and I. What a brave woman! Also, Delicate Arch with the steep bowl I had to hike around to get to the arch. I was very careful not to fall there! You two scare the heck out of me the way you both run around on the rocks! Yes absolutely to all of those great suggestions! In fact, we already have a Zion sufferfest plan involving Angel's Landing and the whole west Rim -- will prob try to do it in the Fall.

@@LiveHardxLoveHard I appreciate the Adam cut but it's good to have Elise there to make sure Adam doesn't get cut while taking an Adam cut! It's kind of refreshing at this cold temperature. Yesterday, I ran at 9am and it was 18 degrees from 44th and France avenue in linden hills neighborhood and around Lake Harriet and back. About 5 miles total. It wasn't too busy on the trail. Cheers and can't wait to see the next Adam cut!

Hi Elise and Adam!! You two keep knocking it out of the park!! This is really an awesome video! The scenery is stunning.....and your commentary and sharing your experiences makes it that much more special. This is in my back yard! Well....Moab is about 2.5hours from us in Ouray. I do have to say though, Arches isn't my most frequent visited place as it is not a dog friendly place. I'll have to see if dogs are ok on the primitive trail; but they aren't on the regular trails. I am sure you saw the La Sal mountains in the distance from Arches? Just on the other side them, I have some flat, unimproved ranch property. That area is neat too as it is in a valley called Paradox Valley. The paradox is that normally the river runs the length of the valley that it made. In this case, the valley is nw-se running and the river is ne-sw running. The valley was a mega salt dome that collapsed a long time ago. The terrain there looks like your video just after you were at Delicate arch and you were paralleling an uplifted mesa that is maybe 400 or 500 feet high. Last week, I plotted out some long range, back country movements for Canyonlands N.P. so as to be ready to take my dog on some adventures when it cools off. Safe travels!! PS. You dodged the crowds most expertly in this one!! It seems like there are a million people there daily at Arches!! The only disappointment......no post hike swim. If you go up to the base of the La Sal mountains, there are a few alpine lakes.

Believe us, Alan. The no post-hike swim was a disappointment to us as well. We really could have used an icy plunge after that massive 104F sufferfest! 😂 That is so cool that your property has that kind of terrain. It must feel amazing just to sit out there, sip a cool beverage, and look at that amazing landscape. Can't wait to hear about your Canyonlands adventure! Please share it with us because we would love to do a Canyonlands trek as well and want all the good beta we can get!

Hi Folks! I just re-watched "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade" and noticed that the opening scene with young Indiana is filmed at the double arches! Which I recognized from your video. I'm pretty sure that the cave scene there is a sound stage, but the climb up under the arches to the "entrance of the cave" sure looks like Double Arches. Not so sure about the rest of the horse ride/chase scene as I doubt they would let a film crew race a car across a national park... But thanks again for these great videos.

That's so cool, Gary! We've both seen the movie and did not know that -- time for an Indy retrospective! Now you've got us thinking there must be a lot of other things filmed there too, right? It's such a crazy cool place. Would be interesting to know what all has been shot there.

Marlon, you DEFINITELY need to go to Arches! And please take our advice and go super early in the morning just before dawn. There's really nothing like getting those Devil's Garden arches all to yourself before anyone else arrives. But for sure don't miss it. We still can't figure out how in the heck nature managed to carve these things, but it is certainly something everyone needs to see at least once in their lives.

We were almost thinking about doing it this summer, but then got waylaid by some CO 14ers, as you'll see in a couple of weeks 😂 And yes, double arch is dope. Elise loves Partition, and Adam's favorite wasn't even an arch, it was that crazy little slot canyon!
