Yesterday, Megan and I took a few hours to hike to Facpi Point. This trail doesn't seem to be as popular as some of the other scenic hikes on Guam, so if you are looking for a little time away from the crowds this is a good trail to check out. The easiest time to reach the point is low tide. You'll see all kinds of sea life and unique rock formations.
According to my wife's Apple watch, the trail is 4 miles total (2 out and 2 back). Make sure to bring sunscreen because the entire trail is exposed. I used google maps to locate the general direction of the trail. The route we took began immediately to the right of the gate to the World Adventist Radio compound.

i cannot stress enough how much i appreciate your content! as a native chamorro who was raised in california and never got to experience the island myself yet, it’s so refreshing to be able to see someone explore the places my grandpa always tells me stories about, thank you for being so respectful of our culture and the island, we value it ☺️

Also much of the land is owned by the Torres family (familian Bakulo’ or Bakulu) which sold part to seventh day adventist.

The fruit is part of the noni tree and it has medicinal value. In chamorro they call the juice latda.

That fruit that looks like troll eggs is call Lada in Chamoru, but it's more widely known as Noni which is Hawai'ian. It's used as a powerful medicine in pacific cultures.

Great video! 😊👍🏼I happened upon your channel by accident. I must say,I truly miss home. 🥺I haven’t been home over 27 years and watching your channel has made me want to see home again. Also,the fruit you are curious about isn’t a “ates” it’s called a noni fruit. I truly appreciate you sharing my homeland to the world. 🌎I am glad you and your wife is enjoying your stay on Guam 🇬🇺 some do not appreciate it,but,to each their own I suppose.🤷🏻‍♀️ I have seen a few of your videos and it is a delight to see all the locations I’ve been at. Although it’s a lot different from last I was home never the less,it’s still and always will be memories I keep dear to my heart. Thank you for sharing your adventures on Guam 🇬🇺 new subscriber here.🤗

Such an amazing, relaxing video of yet another beautiful part of Guam that probably most people don't get to experience (including myself, who's from there -- granted, I was a kid when my family left for the States). You guys are definitely experiencing the island to the utmost. Thanks for sharing the stunning footage of your adventures. By the way, I'm pretty sure Facpi is pronounced "fack-pee"...lol.

Thanks BluePacificRQF. I just found out about this spot a few weeks ago. The trail isn’t the easiest to find. I probably never would have found it if someone hadn’t told me about it. Thanks for the pronunciation assistance hahaha

Never been. Thanks for this journey. Your jungle tours are next level and very entertaining to watch through a statesiders lens. Guam has lost so much but gained too in the process. The story continues. My family has been a part of all of it. The fruit from the tree is called ‘ates’ pronounced ahh-tess. If you ever find yourself shopping the Underground Dungeon be sure to say hello…

Hey Steven! Thanks for the info on the fruit. Is the “ates” the same as the Noni fruit? Or is it something different? I just looked up the Underground Dungeon. I had never heard of it before. I’ll have to make a trip to check it out.
@stevenmoylan166
@stevenmoylan166 3 жыл бұрын
The fruiting masses look similar so it is possible that what you encountered may very well be ladda but it appears to be ates from my POV. Hard to tell but if you try ladda you will know it immediately. It’s definitely an acquired taste. Ates aka sugar apple or sweetsop is not the same as the noni fruit or ‘ladda’ in Chamorro. They are 2 different fruiting masses from 2 entirely different trees. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sugar-apple www.guampdn.com/story/life/2015/05/28/wed-lead---0527/28004375/
