Shaitan Gwat Lake is a remote and scarcely visited lake in Swat Valley Pakistan. It is located at a distance of 23 km from the village of Barkedam, which itself is an hour's jeep ride from main civilisation in Kedam.
Amongst the lakes in Pakistan, and even the lakes in Swat, Shaitan Gwat Lake is relatively lesser known and even lesser visited lake.
Shaitan Gwat Lake is considered one of the largest lake in Swat. Swat valley lakes such as Mahodand Lake, Spinkhor Lake and Kundol Lake are famous for their beauty. But whereas these lakes are accessible and full of tourists, Shetan Gwat Lake is secluded and far from the general public. The only people that have seen this lake are the local villagers and the most dedicated of trekkers.
There are many mystic stories associated with Shetan Gwat Lake. Local folk say that there are precious gemstones in and around this lake. Others say that supernatural beings visit this lake.
If you are on swat valley tour, and wish to visit Shaitan Gwat Lake, it will only be possible if you are equipped with proper hiking and camping gear.
Amongst all the swat valley beautiful places, the trek to Shaitan Gwat Valley ranks very highly.
The Shaitan Gwat Lake trek has another beautfiul lake on its trail which is called the Sar Banda Lake. Arguably, Sar Banda Lake is more beautiful than Shaitan Gwat Lake, but the Mystique of Shaitan Gwat Lake still makes it appealing to visitors.
