When hiking the North Cascades in Washington you need to do the Chain Lakes Loop in the Mt. Baker Wilderness as an Overnight or even a day hike. The scenery is fantastic. I hiked this as an overnight with my son and my Cattledog Gus. Backpacking into the lakes and staying overnight is the only way to go. It's a great trail to hike with dogs as well.

If you can get past the mosquitoes this is a fantastic hike for either a day hike or an overnight.

Man, you’re so funny while also sharing some good insights about your trip. I woke up and found your video very engaging. I even felt like I was on the hike with you, Guss and Jessie. Keep more coming. I’m subscribed and love you. I burst out laughing when you said “Slimy green algae” lol

Another great video!! Definitely need to get up to the Mt. Baker area for a hike. Been almost 30 years now. I did a hike in the Mt. Jefferson Wilderness yesterday, and trying to do as many Central Oregon Cascade hikes before they make most of the Limited Entry areas (it was supposed to happen this year, but Covid-19 has delayed that). Maybe next year I will get up there. Keep the videos coming!!

Yeah Oregon is starting to lock down some areas huh? I have mixed feelings about that. I want people to enjoy the outdoors but holy smokes the trails are getting more crowded by the day. I have found myself looking to places further out and deeper in the woods to hike.

Al least the mosquitoes weren't bad, lol. I think they are here to protect some of the beauty we seen here in this awesome video

There were a couple of spots there that we could see but were occupied. If you snooped around you could probably find more that were obvious.

What are your thoughts on Mt Baker Wilderness vs Mt Rainier? I will be making a trip to Washington later this year and would like to do both, but unfortunately will only have time for one. Both look great so hard to choose.

Personally I like the Mt Baker area, but, the keystone for that is I hike with Gus my Cattledog and most of the trails around Rainier are NPS which do not allow dogs on trails. Both are beautiful. The Wonderland Trail around Rainier is supposed to be incredible. What kind of time frame are you looking at? And what are your experience and physical levels?

@@HikingwithGus Yeah Mt Baker looks awesome and underrated based on the pictures and videos. We're spending 5 days in Washington, 3 days in Olympic and would like to spend 2 days at either Mt Baker or Mt Rainier. We're in decide shape, we've hiked 15-20 miles a day in Colorado, Wyoming and Utah. We like alpine lake hikes the most so we're leaning towards Mt Baker, the chain lakes loop and Lake Ann look amazing. Thanks for the reply

@@NATEG01 Gus and I are heading up to Artist and Huntoon points next week to do a spring snowshoe overnight. We were going to do it last year but c.o.v.i.d. shut everything down and messed up our trip. So be looking for that video in a couple weeks. You can't go wrong with either Lake Ann or Chain Lakes. We were up in that area today scoping out next weeks trip and there is still a lot of snow up there right now. Unless things really heat up, they won't be snow free until mid July or later. Take lots of bug spray, and, I use permethrin on my clothing and it works fantastic.

@@HikingwithGus Sounds good I will keep an eye out for your video in a few weeks. I will be going in September so hopefully a lot of the snow will be melted by then. Thanks for the advice. Are there any of trails that you recommend in the area?
