This made me think back to the day when I was young and it was my first day at work at a cabinet shop. They gave me a Styrofoam cup and told me to go to the other warehouse and get some acetone. I was told "acetone is really expensive so do not spill any of it". I made it about 10 feet before the acetone ate right through the bottom of the cup. There wasn't a person there who hadn't been pranked the same way. I was frightened when it happened but have laughed about it every since. I'm old and fat now. I couldn't swing that sledge hammer three times like this kid can.

And for those who cry mistreatment or what have you, there's nothing hurtful here... Just a little bit of making-fun-of-the-newbie type of thing.. The guy is not hurt, there was no sticky-smelly-greasy-icky shit poured on him and what not (I HATE that!), they just pulled his leg a little.. Good humour... He probably had a good laugh with them after and did it himself to the next newbie...

Off to Napa I go, older guy behind the counter asked me what colour? I just stood there, then he burst out laughing saying someone pulled a fast one on me. He asked where I went and what happened, so I told him and he turned bright red and almost passed out from laughing so hard. I was a 20 year old HD mechanic apprentice. I was embarrassed and choked! @dbtwiztid7 жыл бұрын
Or maybe ask how a voltage meter is used to measure seismic activity...?
@brianbird37567 жыл бұрын
dbtwiztid it has to do with piezoelectric methods of creating electricity. you see, the natural quartz in the soil is compressed and vibrated by the strikes of the hammer. this causes voltage to be induced into the ground. since the new electrical system will be grounded in that area, and since electricity only works when there is a DIFFERENCE of potential (meaning that if you have the same voltage on hot and neutral, nothing will work) and since the neutral will be bonded at the first point of disconnect, any voltage naturally induced in that area by the weight and vibrations of building and its subsystems will be transferred to the neutral bar. If this natural voltage is too high, this can cause problems with sensitive electrical and electronic equipment. we must ensure that we don't drive the ground bar within six feet of an area that has too high of a natural quartz content. this is how we check for this. Afterward, I'll need the wire stretcher and a skyhook. oh, and hurry the fuck up.
@kratosgodofwar45827 жыл бұрын
Brian Bird see now u're funny. sincerely. the old farts in video r not.

Hahaha that's awesome. Reminds me of the time I sent a first year electrical helper to find our wire stretcher. He ended up spending an hour running around the job, asking foremen and AJs, who eventually sent him to the head foreman, who told him to ask the superintendent (who just happened to be there) who sent him to Home Depot with a company credit card. Then he spent an hour at Home Depot, apparently running around, asking people about it, until one of the employees there who had heard a prank like that before told him what was up and he came back. I bought him lunch that day; he laughed and laughed about it.

At the end, we were out in the yard dismantling some sheds and sent one of the others to go to the tool crib to get the sky-hook so we can lift the roof off. He asked how it works..well, first you make sure there are no obstacles in the way, have an escape route planned, tie a bowline shackle splice onto the ridge beam and hook the other end up there (pointing to the sky) and get the operator to do the lift... He almost made it all the way to the crib when he finally realized he’d been had! He took a labourer job at a smelter. He is long since retired. Full pension. Travelling the world... My first day on the construction site, after meeting crew, some guy says pick that box up and put it on that second floor landing. No steps yet, a ladder was the way up. I went to pick up the box and realized I was being tested, it was very heavy. Full box of aluminum 3' coil. It was tough, but, I threw it over my shoulder and went up the ladder, setting it down on the landing. I climbed back down, looking at some very surprised faces.
