It is very clear that Kukis, Mizos, Chins all are the same people, we have almost the same culture, language, etc. It was because outsiders thought we are different that we are called by different names. These political boundaries are all man made imposed on us by outsiders. As long as Kukis deny this fact and refuse to unite with their brothers, they will forever suffer at the hands of bigger tribes whether it be Nagas or Meiteis. You cannot be minority everywhere you are, as long as you're a minority you'll always be demeaned and targeted. This time Kukis are lucky that Zomis and Mizos are targetted along with them, this allows reason for Mizos to come help, food, clothing, all basic necessities are all taken from Mizoram, 40,000 homeless Kukis are being taken care of by fellow Zomi and Mizos. We know what happened in 1992 when the Zomis refused to participate in the war, back then it was not even with the participation of the state. Had the Zo connection been not there this time, all Kukis would have been chased out of Manipur already and starved to death through blockades. How many history examples do you guys need to learn this lesson? As long as you say "we are Kukis 100%" you have no chances of survival. If tomorrow Mizos cut your supplies saying "you people don't want to accept the Zo identity, so we have no reason to support you" where are you going to run?

Sure we appreciate and feel thankful to our Mizo brethen for helping us out during this time of crisis but any form of help should not come with strings attached. Its not that we don't accept Zo Identity. We just don't want to part with the age old nomenclature that has built us a past that we could be proud of. We know we are the same people, we were from the same land, called different names by colonisers like Chin, Lushais, Kukis but these names are not who we are, why should artificial names given to us by outsiders still serve as a barrier that even when we are about to get thrown out of our own land we still choose to stubbornly let go of it? Let go of it is one thing, you are not even allowing the people who want to let go of it to choose their own identity. We are Chins in Myanmar, Lushais in Lushai hills, Kukis in Manipur because outsiders came and called us those despite us being the same people. But as time passes we realised our mistake, we realised in a modern state which is governed with rule of law, constitution, democracy and where all parts of the earth are now accessible to everyone and everyone is fighting for resources, it is not feasible for small tribes like us to allow these narrow, completely artificial, names given by outsiders to cast differences amongst us, because in the modern world numbers rule. We should no longer allow colonial given names and identities dictate who we are. We must accept who we truly are. We don't have to listen to how Meiteis define us, we define ourselves, we define who we are, why do you care what Meiteis, the same people who want to completely wipe us out think of us? There is no more Manipur, the idea of Manipur is as good as dead to us, how can you still say "in Manipur, we are Kukis", why still sucking up to Meiteis? Why do you want to be a tiny helpless persecuted minority in a state, hated, kicked and bullied by all when you could have widened your horizon and become the strong? COCOMI declared war on "Kuki-Chin narcoterrorists" despite us calling ourselves "Kuki-Zo", why is that? As I said before, helping by just by typing words on social media is easy. But it's another whole level when you have to walk the talk and make personal sacrifices. During Christmas, if the church demands you 1000 rupees for the Christmas meat you complain and churches feed 300-400 people at most for one day and it took your one year investment to donate that 1000 rupees. Now you can imagine feeding not 300 people, but 20k people, not for one day but for 7 months. Till today, Mizos even though poor are still donating in the lakhs everyday while feeding another 40k people from Myanmar who too completely refused to accept "Zo" identity. All of these acts of kindness have no strings attached, it is unconditional just like you'd do for your own family members. But it is also hurtful to know that after all that is done by the Mizo people for people who for the past 70 years have shown such disdain for the "Zo" identity to the point that you went to war against people adopting Zo identity, still refuse to budge and are still as stubborn as ever. Why still showing disdain for Zo people? Why not simply allow anyone to accept Zo identity instead of you announcing that "All of us are Kukis" which I know very well is directed at those who accepted Zo identity? What is it in the word "Zo" that you hate so much and what is it in the word "Kuki" that you love so much? I know for certain that if the situation is reversed and it's the Zos that are suffering and Kukis/Chins being in a position to help, I know this magnanimity will never be a reciprocated. I've read the many hateful comments dropped by Kukis/Chins against Zo people, the disdain you have for us, but we're swallowing it with the hope that one day you'll see the bigger picture.
