What was your favorite part of Hilda?

This explains so much about what I suspected about Hilda. Her blue hair was odd and unlike most people she is around seems to have the magical world come to her by pure luck. Luck does have some correlation to the fey-and she and her mother have an extraordinary amount of it.

I suspected Hilda was some kind of fae child through the season. And I heavily suspected it more after that creature spit them back out. It said they were "too human" implying that they aren't fully human, but enough to taste bad. The creature also said they didn't have a name because there were no other creatures like it, "I have no word for what I am, I just am. But I guess you two understand what that's like". It flat out said that what Hilda and Johanna are is something that hasn't happened before or has rarely happened.

Season three was so stressful to watch. Hilda has a crazy amount luck from almost dying a lot in the short 8 episodes.

Season three literally stomped a lot of theories fans had in mind and I love it. Season three blew my mind and shattered my feels. It was amazing. Most importantly, NOW WE KNOW WHY HILDA HAS BLUE HAIR. 🎉

Woah, what? I thought Hilda ended/got cancelled a few years ago??? Well, I'm not gonna look a gift horse in the mouth; happy to see more of Hilda!!! 🥰🥰🥰

My main hope for the final season Hilda (though I wish it lasted longer) is for the Great Raven to return after he was written out of the second season (despite the fact he was in the season’s original comic). It would be nice to see him for one more season

I appreciate their take on Færie. Its got that air of mystical… for lack of a better word, neutralness? Like with the creatures of færie country, they’re all just… creatures. Not good or bad. It reminds me of older, “truer” tales of Færie in a very warm way.

I love Hilda

Part of an adventure is the end... and that's what the third season of Hilda it is: the conclusion of an amazing adventure, Also the revelation of Hilda being a half-human fairy due to Hilda's red hair Which is blue. 💙

I've watched it all! IT WAS AWESOME! Unfortunately, it's the final season and it actually makes me sad. I've always liked watching Hilda and believe me, I've watched it a lot. It gives me the feelings of being free and whenever I watch Hilda, I just feel calm, and it was enjoyable watching Hilda. It's sad that all things have to come to an end.

I only recently started watching Hilda last Friday, and I have quickly fallen in love with the show, its so wholesome, and it was awesome binge-watching Season 3. The Fairy Country and the Fae in the last episode seem to also draw inspiration from ``Peter Pan´´ - to how the Fae are portrayed -, and the island of Neverland where it´s a paradise for children who don´t want to grow up.

Victoria DID find a way to create portals between worlds through those towers, so maybe Hilda and her mother won't need to be separated from their grandparents for long. Too bad we won't find out though.

One of the reason fairy lore is so here and there is because fairies is the term for all magic creatures like calling some one and American or scottish Fairies the fay fayfolk what ever it the name given to the magical race

something that's got me thinking is that young johanna says something about most fairies being abducted from the mainland and staying for so long that they forget who they are and where they came from. does that mean that fairies were once human? and maybe the island changed them in some way?

About fairies and the contradicting information about them: The term fairy come from the french term fey. As the Normanns conquered Brittain, they introduced the term to the "english" language. The term fey was used to describe legendary figures from myths or tales. These fey where human looking beautifull, where mighty and had great magical powers. An example is Morgan le Fey from the Artus story. She is a fairy in this case. As the British took the term fey from the french, they started to use it as "fairy" differently: They used the term to discribe their own mythical creatures, the elves. With this the fairies recieved their bad reputation of bringing ilness, doing harmfull magic and stealing children to switch them with a changeling. Then through Shakespeare and an arising popularity, of french "fairy tales", the view on fairies changed again, now they where seen as tiny human like nature spirits with insect like wings.

I've been following Hilda since the comic book days and when I found out a third season was out I binged it!! Honestly I didn't think we'd see Hilda's father, I was lowkey hoping the bell keeper from S2 would be her long lost father but giving Joanna her chance to shine that she not a regular person gave me more appreciation for her. Speaking of Joanna it all makes sense why she was shifting from an adventurous person to a paranoid mother, she was once an adventurous child but because of the faulty memory traumatized her. Joanna despite being half fairy has brown hair is a bit of a plot hole but whatever😅 but Hilda being 1/3 fairy and carrying the blue hair gene makes sense of her being Frida's familiar!! But there was a scene that nearly broke me, when Joanna reverted back to her child self not wanting to leave her parents for a legit second I thought she was gonna stay but it's good she chose her daughter who needs her, it's sad when you realize Joanna has spent more time with Hilda than her parents. I'm honestly glad they gave Victoria a redemption in the end and her niese. Twig using his deerfox abilities to summon their dimension to aid was so freaking epic!! Lastly David's deep voice was unexpected but gave me a nostalgic yet proud feeling. Hilda and everyone got their happy ending what an ending!😢

Since this season dealt with Faeries, it felt like...a tiny missed opportunity that they didn't include any of the Fae Lords in the mythos (let alone referenced them.) I'm of course referring to characters like Mab, Nicnevin, Finnvara and of course; Oberon, Titania and Puck

It's said that at any point a fea is to enter our realm, nature forms a natural ring from the portal. Though sometimes these rings are hard to spot and the portal may even still be active enough for someone to accidentally walk or fall through.

One thing that confused me a bit was that Johanna’s mum was a human, but she gained fairy powers from living in the fairy world for a long time. Does that mean everyone who lives in the fairy world eventually gains fairy powers? Also they didn’t exactly explain why Johana’s parents couldn’t leave; if they said they would die if they left that would make more sense but they just left it at “we can’t leave, im sorry Johanna” Also Johanna’s parents have blonde and blue hair but somehow Johanna got brown hair? How do those genetics work?

It’s so sad that Hilda has ended now but I just wanted to say the years that I watched Hilda with my mum was so amazing and will always be the best years of my life it warmed my heart and saddened it when I got together with my mum again on the sofa to sit down and watch it again just like old times, but now that it’s over I feel that there is still so much more you just gotta think of it myself so thank you for everything. You will always hold a place in my heart.

in season 1 and every season the intro of hilda flying threw the purple sky is a hint to her being a fairy as shown as in the last episode of season 3. ( atleast a theory but it would be very cool if true!)

While this was the end of the show, it is still possible for the books to add a little more to the fairies and their island, after all season 3 as a whole actually came from the series of tie in books that was made after the original run of graphic novels ended. Either way it was fun while it lasted.

It's a shame that the series came to an end. Hilda could have had more than three seasons and additional episodes; its world had so much potential. Unfortunately, Netflix didn't give enough love to Hilda.

I was actually disappointed when I found out the fairies doesn’t look similar to the elves (small, cartoon stick figures, but maybe with more colorful floral and mushroom elements, or maybe similar to the ones they showed us in Tofoten) but I still enjoyed the show either way

This video alluded to a lot more mythology than I was expecting, but it was helpful in explaining about Fairies overall. Anyway, I just finished the whole Season and I absolutely LOVED it ❤ It has quite a few episodes I’m likely to rewatch, including the finale. And, with the release of some new books and the soundtrack, it’s safe to say I will still be enjoying Hilda for a long time

I just finished watching the finale season and I loved it 🥰🥰🥰 although I wasn’t expecting Hilda’s dad to be goofball coward, when I first saw him I thought “Nono he is not her dad” I was honestly expecting the bell watcher to be her dad that would be more believable and I wished we could have gotten a bit more of Woodman, I thought he would play an important role considering he’s so mysterious 🤔

I love this series so much. I love the adventures, exploring the unknown and that most or all of the creatures and magic are part of myth and folklore. A part of me is sad that the series end, but another part is glad that I have watched this series 🥲.

idyllic, peaceful, unchanging, eternally pure and allows those who reside there to remain young physically and mentally forever? the Hilda Fairy Country sounds like what I'd call a perfect world...

I just finished it and It was a great way to end the series Also I think a small spinoff where johanna is the MC and we get to see her adventures and her parents and astrid making the most out of them, That would be so cool

Something I still don't quite understand was the situation with the island/entity dying. What was the cause of that? Did the trade with Victoria staying do anything to fix it? Astrid implied that the entity didn't really need new blood, like that wouldn't actually save her, but that a blood sacrifice might. So I don't understand exactly how that worked out. I'm left feeling a little off about the ending with Victoria van Gale. Like, logically I guess it works that her acting as a willing new resident trades Johanna her life/freedom, but emotionally it just feels too convenient. I guess it feels like the big final problem was solved not by anyone sacrificing anything, or by quick thinking or a clever plan, but by circumstances aligning at the right moment. Like it logically checks out as a solution but it feels really unsatisfying, especially when we don't get to see what was up with the dying island/entity in the end. IDK, something feels missing, or not fully earned.

Just the finished the whooole season and love it.

Its so sad that this is the end of my fav show..

I didn't seen Johana showing any fear or hostility towards magical creatures in general. I could have missed something, but she seemed willing to entrust Hilda to Twig and later the troll mother, Trila, and was friendly towards Alpha, Tontu and the troll child, Baba. If the scenes from the Deerfox episode was anything to go by, she was entirely comfortable in the forest. I'd say that her fear and hostility was directed entirely towards the fairies whom she blamed for the disappearance of her parents. The loss of her parents and her aunt's decision to block out her memories of them definitely impacted her ability to grow and mature, which, I believe, was why she reverted to a child with no memories following her parents' disappearance when she entered the Fairy Island. I also think that when Johana regained her memories, she also realized that her parents would never be able to return to the Overworld and that's why she didn't want to leave. Finally, I think the reason the spirit of the island accepted Victory Van Gale's offer was because it sensed her intelligence, vitality and basically good nature and realized she could give the island new life, maybe even become the island's new spirit and allow the old one to die in peace, knowing that the island would live on.

All the connections to biblical stories are a stretch. Norse and Germanic folklore has its own rich history that was disconnected from semitic cultures for thousands of years before Christianity came knocking. Although biblical stories are some of the most well known, I think it's an inappropriate form of cultural communication to draw parallels when we have much closer examples. The Aesir gods, for example, had ever-plentiful fields and eat from apple trees tended to by Idunn, which grant them immortality, and Asgard is a much more relevant example than the Garden of Eden. Alternatively, simply comparing this version of the fae to extent descriptions of fairy folklore would've been great as well.

This season 3 can't end like this... I felt it was very unfinished, and it had an unsatisfactory ending, I'm not saying that it was terrible or bad. But seriously, despite having a small cameo, it made me very sad 😞😞😞. They should have made Johanna's parents return to the human world, if they had returned the series would have had a great ending, but I cried, for 3 weeks and I'm still sad, this can't end like this. The series has to continue. 😭😭😭😭😭

This felt like a great ending for the series, but I’m wondering if they do do a season 4, what would be the overarching story.

Time doesn't stand still in Fairy Country, Mr. Overspeculation! The Fairy Entity covers the island in glamour magic to make everything appear idealistic to the inhabitants. The reason that Phinium and Lydia look younger than they should is because that's how Johanna remembers them best. Astrid literally explains this to Hilda in the Season 3 finale. Pay attention next time.

What if they make a seasons 4 that would be a surprise

I think the final season would have been better if it had more time to explore the points you brought up in this video. I think if it had been the same length as the other seasons, it would have felt less out of pace to me.
