Former Secretary of State and former presidential nominee Hillary Clinton says pro-Palestinian protesters "don't know very much about the historic events that led to the war in Gaza."
Speaking on MSNBC Clinton said Palestinian leaders could have averted a generation of conflict with Israel if they had accepted a deal brokered by her husband, former President Bill Clinton.

I think she is right. In general people know very little history and it shows in this conflict.

Perhaps it’s not a matter of protestors understanding the full history of the Middle East (as Hillary suggested), rather knowing enough of Israel’s history to be outraged: The 1948 establishment of Israel involved displacing 700K Palestinians from their land. Currently there are about 7 million Palestinian refugees, the world’s largest refugee population. Israel has built settlements on Palestinian land of which 10% of Israel’s population or 700 K settlers live. Israel’s settlements are illegal - they violate international law. I urge those Americans who support Israel to read the history.

No offense to the students but that is extremely unlikely. No matter who they are, you can trust that a former U.S. Secretary of State is intimately familiar with the history of Israel. The students' key strength is their moral passion about the situation. Diplomats have had to numb their feelings to do their job. So it's important for the students' to continue demanding moral accountability. (I would say more but the passionate don't listen to advice...)
