Ohhhhh that’s better! A fantastic long awaited and much loved wild camp. First of many this year. A very busy area to camp on a weekend but nestled amongst the heather and rocks I found a comfortable sheltered spot high up on the moorland within the Peak District. A failed sleep mat was made better with steak and 2 veg cooked in my tent. A beautiful sunset, rainbow and a sprinkling of snow ❄️ Happy New year to you all, much love, Sarah

Hi Sarah, your words "it's about bloody time😂", seems like weeks and weeks since we last saw you on our screens. When we sit and listen to you and listen to what you have to say we'd never think you were shy, and I have a sneaky suspicion that the lasses you work with wouldn't call you shy either. You mentioned fell running, not many fells in Slough where I grew up, so I had to run round the trading estate. Years of pounding the tarmac left me with jagger's knee or chondromalacia patella if you are a medical person. Shoes are so much better now so I hope you don't end up with that ailment. Did you just say pretzel head torch. Good to hear you addressing the problem of weeing, body stuff tends not to get mentioned too much for one reason or another. Karen (think I've mentioned her to you before) does so hats off to her to. Us blokes with pointers can use a 750ml bottle. As another KZfaqr said "if I offer you a drink from the blue bottle I probably don't like you very much"😂😂. Lovely to wake up (eventually) to a tad of snow, it's now 8 January and we have warnings of heavy snow, be great to see you adventuring in those conditions. Keep up the chit-chat, my withdrawal symptoms have been cured temporarily. Cheers Graham

Ha ha! Hi Graham, I’m glad that I could check in with you again and this great community, trust me, I’d missed it. My camp was truly wonderful and very much deserved after enduring another Christmas of duty away from my family. I am lucky to have a variety of road and trail to enjoy my running, the trails are my preferred terrain for the building of strength, stamina, mental agility and views. I enjoy how sharp I have to be, always thinking 20 steps in front to pick out a path. Road running is time to not think too much practically but more gain fitness and speed. I’m getting better. I don’t half loose my fitness when I stop running, although this time I have sprung back much easier after running for 40 days in the build up to my 40th year around the sun, I thank the hiking and carrying if my backpack for that. Pee pot is a came changer for non-pointed humans that want to stay warm and dry at 2am 😂 BW, Sarah

Good to see you out again. I travelled from the SE to the Cairngorms before Christmas and spent 2 nights there. My poor Soulo had a good beating from the wind and I didn’t sleep much but the tent was fine thankfully. I do a lot of DofE and my poor partner gets left behind with my 3 year old but it’s like I need to get away to recharge my batteries. Shame I live so far away from the mountains! Thanks for sharing your trip and sorry about your mat. I have a sea to summit comfort plus insulated mat and it’s worked for me.

It’s amazing though, some of these locations are easy access and not a big hike, but a camp does take lots of effort in the planning setting up and keeping myself warm fed and safe, I like the challenge of all that though and I escape the responsibilities of washing pots and other chores at home 😂 Infact I escape everything! We should all enjoy time for ourselves. The hand warmer heaters are so comforting when it’s freezing and the tent is considerably warmer than the elements outside. The KiddieWhizzer is a simple piece of kit that has made camp more enjoyable rather than getting cold, wet and therefore vulnerable outside my tent when I need to pee! Can’t recommend enough, please tell her than it glows in the dark 😂BW, Sarah

I can normally be found solo hiking and wild camping in the Welsh mountains but as I live in Staffordshire I've decided 2024 is going to be Peak District year 😂. Hey! This is why I am a frequent visitor to Kinder Scout, especially on the northern edge on a weekday! Ha ha. I find the The Great Ridge beautiful especially when it’s pouring it down and all the people have gone home. Some parts of the Peaks are extremely busy so choosing camp spots has to be given a great deal of thought if I want solitude. I really love running up Mam Tor and along the ridge on a cold crisp evening (when at my fittest May I add) and running back in the dark, it’s less busy then. Wales is stunning, and I have spent some time in The Mannifold valley in recent years, is that the Staffordshire boarder? I hope to travel further afield in the future to immerse myself amongst the big dudes ⛰️ but I am fine tuning my fitness and camping skills before I dive into that challenge. ATB, Sarah

Some miserable soul had written an anonymous comment with an angry face about their discontent re giving away these secret spots. It made me sad momentarily then realised that there are some people in this world that will do things like that to try and ruin the joy for others. This person must have watched one of the KZfaq videos to know that there was a log book there in the first place 😂 never mind. I’ve recently found another camp spot around that area that will be keeping to myself unfortunately to avoid the same (what feels like conflict) ✨best wishes Mr Jiggs ⛺️

This is the stuff to give the troops in a cold new year Sarah.Like a huge bowl of rice pudding with the skin on.Smashing! You don't need these fancy sleeping mats.You really don't. After an in-depth study of the sleeping habits of horses I vowed to train myself to sleep standing upright. However,this was not without difficulties. Our father, pissed off with the nightly clatter of his son and heir crashing to the floor at 3am, put paid to my early endeavours.But we adapt and overcome.And I did. Of course this sleep system, which I have patented btw, precludes the employment of a tent but I find that a golfing umbrella and a set of fisherman's oilskins service my requirements. I appreciate that my approach to wildcamping is not for everyone,particularly the faint-hearted.Once committed, you must hold your nerve. Good luck with your efforts the shed a few pounds. I highly recommend the lettuce & dog biscuit diet. I myself weighed in at a hefty fourteen and a half stones but after much perseverance I now have an IQ of 38. You should buy a camouflage tent. Get dropped off & picked up too. Give the back of the mind a bit of peace. Seasonal reversible print tents are a thing. We nowadays love the moors, especially when the heather is in bloom, though our Celtic ancestors regarded the moorland as limbo land. The last place they would want to be at night. They were terrified of dying there too. The bog bodies that've been discovered were the utterly deposed & despised. Being pegged down in the morass as an eternal punishment. Unable to decay, unable to proceed to their next incarnation. An eternal prison for ghosts & goblins. I try not to be superstitious but you know, just in case. If camping out I'd be a fair ways down the clough off the moss. Wild glamp golden dragon Patrick Dickinson slept under a Rowan; on the moors. Came away unscathed, but I still wouldn't do it.

@SoloSarahBX
@SoloSarahBX 5 ай бұрын
Thank you for your comment. Wild camping is only completely legal in Scotland yes. My question to you is, why would you come to a KZfaq channel to tell me as the creator of this wild camping video that it is illegal? Why watch this video? I am interested to know. The majority of the wild camping community choose to camp responsibly. This means camping away from farm land and livestock, camping away from public foot paths in secluded spots, setting up camp early and leaving early, most importantly leaving no trace that they have ever been there. My opinion is that if I am respecting the countryside and choosing to enjoy it in this way I am doing no harm. If I was asked to leave by a land owner I would pack up quickly and efficiently without question and move on. To avoid this disturbance I choose to camp alone and in places that are out of sight. More trouble, litter and disturbance from poorly parked vehicles is often displayed/seen by day visitors. Best wishes, Sarah

Hi Sarah, do your research on wild camping access in the UK. You would leave if asked to go by the landowner; you should speak with Moors to the Future about responsible use of the land; or The Peak Park. For those of us that work in the Peaks it makes it hard for us when people ignore the law of acess.@@SoloSarahBX
