I like seeing how your bringing technology to the residential landscape

This is the kind of thing that i have thought about myself, i'm glad you are showing its real world potential on a site like mine. I would love to get an update when you get more familiar with it to see if its been as efficient as you hope it will be for the price.

The company i work for bought me a TopCon LN 150 and i love it . Ive played around with the hilti and i dont like it especially for the price and the support . The topcon is less than half the price of the Hilti and here in the states the support is really good . I think that people looking into these Total Station - layout station systems really need to think about the support aspect . Because it is huge . Lets say you get out on a job and you cannot remember how to do something or something goes wrong . Being able to call your salesperson and have them Connect into your system from their desk and control it is a lifesaver .

We should catch up soon, we had a lot of the same teething problems with drawings, control points, Etc. Workflow was the biggest learning process for us.

Hi Ollie. When you look at Leica kit you should look at the Leica ICON range as I understand this one is better for landscaping.

This kit is great, at a cost... £30k for landscaping? Respect to your contractor for making this investment. I'd give the architect a nudge with the dwg, there's no excuse for these disconnected lines. A review/comparison with the Leica kit would be really interesting. We have loads of Hilti kit and the benefits of durability and support (how many impacts have we dropped off roofs) are unsurpassed, but the cost, in the UK, can be prohibitive.

Ollie, another option is the Trimble Ri. Excellent tool, software and files work with many different platforms. Nearly exactly the same tool as the Hilti. Less expensive as well.

I can't find angle accuracy for PLT300, there is a distance ACC, which is about 3mm on 50m. Can anyone find angle accuracy, why is that secret?

sounds like dealing with 'landscape architects' , they draw a conceptual thing, get paid handsomely for it, and its up to you to make it not suck. so if they gave you accurate plans to build from you could come back and saw 'this is what you drew' when it turns out sorta 'Meh'

You could easily set out houses with this thing couldn't you? I'm a residential builder and just want to set out my new builds fast.

I suggest for Hilti a bigger display, maybe a 48"? it will give you back problems more faster than this shit.

correction, they are NOT engineers, they are Surveyors, and it is not simple, this is heavy tech, not just in the cad/computers, but the readings need a high IQ level maths to interpret the numbers.( I have Autism and tried it, not my cup of tea); think of this like an aircraft automation system, this is only a sensor saying pitch, yaw, speed, etc. it takes the pilot and the augmented autopilot systems to transfer the info onto a map, so you know where you are and where you are going. this is high tech needing a high IQ to operate, tape measures are low tech, every man and his dog can use!!
