Ville Valo, a 4 octave wonder. A 90’s sex symbol, he also has the 8th highest vocal range known to man and is actually a baritone (which is practically bass and tenor). Dude played Moto Moto in the Finnish Madagascar movie lol. Created the Heartagram on his 21st birthday and it’s literally one of the most well known logos around the world. Highly recommend his new solo stuff if you’ve got a taste for the BSDH or Screamworks era HIM. 10 year old comments would be shocked to know that he continued making music outside of the group and still sounds great for his age.

Just saw him live 2 days ago and he was amazing. Over 1 and a half hours of great vocals and a nice assortment of HIM songs and his solo works. I had such a great time. Couldn't get enough of his incredible voice.

sasha deea it’s very simple: they’ve been a band for almost 30 years, and it was time for a change. They broke up on amazing - literally perfect - terms, and I can tell you that we haven’t heard the last from them.

Also, he's a master of switching pitches from extremely low to very high. I very much doubt James Hetfield would ever be able to do that. And finally, to clear things up, Valo never said he didn't think he was a good vocalist. The reason why he didn't want to become a singer was his shyness and lack of confidence the frontman should have. He hated to be the center of attention. It was definitely not because of him not being aware of his abilities. That's all I wanted to say.

There's plenty of lead vocalist in the rock/metal world much better than him. And Valo is, without a doubt, one of them. He's not only one of 4 octave wonders but he's also blessed with a beautiful tone. His vocal tecgnique used to be very impressive as well. I recommend you watching some of his '98 overdrive performances or other gigs from '99 - '01 especially. Sure smoking kind of demaged his live vocals, but he's still a strong singer regardless.

His vocals weak?? You kiddin me? No, I'm not into guys that "girly" so I'm def not here for his looks. Ville is one of the best vocalists I've heard. Great range, great tone, good emotions. I'm sure if he didn't smoke so much, he'd be right up there with singing masters. And now that he's quit he might work on it.

If you'll see the last gigs, 2017 most of all, you can notice how tired and even bored he is performing. It turned into smth routinary and predictable, as VV mentioned in interviews afterwards, that's it. Let's hope new tour Neón Noir wont spoil everything fastly, the agenda is so tight..

Dude, just face the simple facts. Even the huge Metallica fans I know admit Hetfield's vocals are far from what would you call "good". He's a legend, yes, but hardly can be clasified as a vocalist. Freddie Mercury, Steve Perry, Robert Plant, Steven Tyler, Rob Halford, Eddie Vedder, Bowie - those ARE vocalists. And while Valo might be not on their level, he's got mad vocal skills as well.I hate to repeat myself, but just check his '98 overdrive gig or others from '99 - '01. His vocals are SICK.

And well, it depends on what is your definition of "real music".I listen to classics from 60's, 70's, 80's as well as some of the newer stuff.HIM is one of a few more recent bands that I enjoy. I couldn't care less for Valo's looks, his lyrics are not the best, some of the music is cool (like their 1st, 2nd and 6th album), but what really catches me is his vocals and big ass range.
