Himalayan Monal: Mesmerizing Calls & Displays in Chopta- The male Monal is a beautiful bird with a spectrum of iridescent colours. Monal is the State Bird of Uttarakhand and the National Bird of Nepal, where it is called Danphe. It lives from 2100 to 4500 meters in Himalayan hill forests with steep valleys, extensive rhododendron, and bamboo-dominated under-story.
