Great video. Confirmed our decision to go with Himiway even though we didn't see this video first. Just put my Cruiser together last night and tested her out this morning. So far I can say my experience was quite satisfying. First time EBike owner and was pleasantly surprised with the bikes abilities and giddy-up. Looking forward to my wife's Step Through arriving in April.

Thanks for the detailed review! I came very close to ordering a Himiway, but a used BikTrix Juggernaut Classic came along at a price I could not pass up. I'm now considering a Himiway step-through for my wife. All of the reviews have been positive and the price is right.

Been looking at bikes for several months trying to figure out which to get. Been arguing with myself between the Rad Rover and the Himiway. Almost settled on the Rad rover till I saw your last video. That very day I ordered a Himiway step threw. This video makes me really happy with your reviews and my choice. I wanted one to take me fishing down some dirt paths which are several miles long to get to the fishing area. I think it will also be used for running around town and for just getting out there rides.

Great video, Citizen! If I was in the market for a full size fat tire electric, I would go for that Himiway or Juiced Rip Current S! Rad is great for a 1st time e bike, though! I have the Rad Runner and I love it! Reminds me of the Schwinn Stingray I had as a child. I am 60 now, and I am still a little kid at heart! Keep up the good work!

You've been extremely helpful as far as guiding my decision to upgrade my 2020 Rover, I've gotten the motor, controller, the battery is on backorder, opted for the maxxis minion fbr and fbf. I know you said the battery is the least value, I'm looking for range equitable to power. Thanks for your vids, keep them coming.

I had my heart set on a RadCity since my Evelo OmniWheel died back in July after three years of frequent use, and I was using it for getting to the grocery store, but after seeing these comparisons.. even with the sudden jolts of the motor kicking in, I'm leaning towards the Himiway. Thank you for doing these apple-to-apple comparisons.

Thanks for sharing your wisdom. I am the owner of the same ebike.This was not the bike I ordered, but I agreed to keep it.I had it 3 weeks. By the end of the first week I noticed a slight wobble in the rear wheel,. a cricket like squeaky sound coming from the motor area, and the foot of the kickstand fell off. Himiway compensated me for sending the wrong bike, and are in the process of sending me a replacement for the kickstand, and a new motor. This is my first and only ebike. At 65 I have not ridden a bike in about 40 years. I am 6'2 and 210 lbs. This bike is bigger then it appears in video. It was confusing to determine the correct amount of air pressure for these fat tires. The manual stated one thing, the tire stated something else., and my body type was saying something different. The fastest I have gone so far is 24 MPH, without changing factory settings. That is fast enough for me. I have been averaging about ten miles per day on the ebike. When ever coming to a stop its a good habit to set the pedal assist to 0 or 1.The bike is fun to ride and looks good.I am hopeful that my Himiway ebike issues will be resolved.

Great Video Brian, I bought a Himiway because of your reviews! I have made some changes to my Himiway, like upgrading the brakes to hydraulic Bolton brake conversion, I put larger pedals on, and a different riser and neck, so I would not have to lean as much forward as I have a broken back from VN. I would like to put a color display KT-LCD8H on it. Makes programming easier. Found out by your other review that the Himiway controller is 25 watts not 15 watt like Rad!

Big 👍 ...after what I felt was tons and tons and tons and tons (get the point) 😆 ...of research, I pulled the trigger on two Himiway cruisers for my wife and I. Then low and behold, I found your videos online, which made me even HAPPIER! ...that I made the choice I did. This video was perfect in the information you offered! When I get my bikes, mine will be unlocked, and I'm not sure how I'll end up programming the PAS modes yet. But because of the info you provided here, I'll definitely be powering down my wife's PAS. We're both in our 50's, and although I've been a two wheeler all my life, and currently own a 2019 Energica EVA 107 all electric Italian motorbike that'll take ya from 0-60mph in 2-seconds, ...my wife is a bit more passive. Thanks for both this video, and the Himiway vs Radrover video. They were exactly what I needed to see! Again, I had already ordered the bikes, but your videos definitely make me feel like I couldn't have made a better choice!

Another great video, I'll post it in the Facebook Himiway groups. I have a Himiway Cruiser and just received it 5 days ago. I set the speed limiter to as high as it can go (basically turned it off) and am seeing the same speeds and performanve you are. I should note that many feel the Himiway shows as up to 2 mph over when compared to GPS or roadside speed radar. This may be because the wheel size is 26" but the true size is closer to 28-29 because of the fat tire. People have changed the wheel size settung to 28" but that over compensates in the other direction so most just leave it as is. Like you, I changed the PA % settings because the bike does take off abruptly and feels almost too powerful for the low settings, especially 1 and 2. I set mine to 1=20%, 2=40, 3=60% and so on. This works better for me for a more gradual increase. Finally I would say the bike is delivered as a Class 2 (750W, 20 MPH) but as soon as you increase the speed limiter it will go 30-32 mph in PA 5 or full throttle on a flat surface. At that point it would be a Class 3.

Got mine 2 weeks ago and have put on 165 miles on it mostly trail riding. I took today (Monday) off just because it's going to be nice and I want to ride as much as possible before it gets cold! The only thing so far is the chain fell off twice hopping a curb and during a low speed spill over thing. The rear rack lost a bolt and the throttle plastic piece that turns inside popped out... But those are easy little fixes.

Excellent info. On my Volt 750 Yukon, I selected 0-9 PAS. Sounds like your at 0-5 PAS ?? 10--11% percent for each PAS really divides up the power. PAS 1=10mph 2=12ish 3=14ish 4=16ish etc. I weigh 175lbs, flat ground, no wind 7th Gear PAS 9=25 mph MAX. sustaining 23-24 throttle only. Fresh charge no lights on. I feel there is more power that needs to be unleashed, like pedaling with the brakes on or I'm dragging a parachute. Ride-ON
@kjhghhff
@kjhghhff 3 жыл бұрын
@@seriouskite Yes I have it set at 0-5, going up in increments of 20 starting at PAS 1. I bumped up PAS 1 today to 25 as it was barely engaging at 20. The rest I've left the same for now. I'll try the 0-9 if the transition isn't smooth enough for me.

I'm sooooo glad I got my Himiway 2 weeks ago!!! It is a POWERFUL bike. Almost too much power when trying to maneuver around a corner/tight space (I had 2 low speed situations - whoops). I suppose I could go into the settings and change the cadence. But then it wouldn't be as FUN - HAHAHA! I would rather get used to it. It's fun going up hill no handed effortlessly!!!
@seriouskite
@seriouskite 3 жыл бұрын
Keep in mind the brakes cut off the motor, My Volt Yukon 750 has 0-9 Pedal assist. Factory settings are around 10-11ish percent increase in power each. So yes, 3-9 from a dead start when not expecting a "boost" can be a bit startling. Gear 6 or 7 on the flats, PAS 5-6-7- then open up throttle until 20 ish mph, as you are pedaling your arse off and speed drops hit the throttle again. Real good way to find out what you have and what the bike has.

One can go into the pedal assistance programming to modify it for 0 to 9 pedal assistance levels; with each specific level of pedaling assistance having its own desired appropriate power output levels; one can for example in the case of the nine pedaling assistance levels define specific desired motor controller to electric hub motor power output levels; that are evenly split: level 1; 10% of 750 watts is 75 watts power output level 2; 20% of 750 watts is 150 watts power output level 3; 30% of 750 watts is 225 watts power output level 4; 40% of 750 watts is 300 watts power output level 5; 50% of 750 watts is 375 watts power output level 6; 60% of 750 watts is 450 watts power output level 7; 70% of 750 watts is 525 watts power output level 8; 80% of 750 watts is 600 watts power output level 9; 90% of 750 watts is 675 watts power output one can also go into the pedal assistance sensitivity and adjust that also as well

Hi CC, I love your comparaison videos. I'm purchasing an ebike and have been looking at a wide range and for me it comes down to 2. The Himiway stepthru and The Himiway escape. Now Im a personal shopper so I often have alot of extra cargo with me and also I have long distance trips. Im a big girl and would like a confortable ride. I know the escape is not out yet but compared to other moped style ebikes, which one would you recommand oe chose out of the Stepthru and the Escape?
@CitizenCycle925
@CitizenCycle925 3 жыл бұрын
hi Marsha, this is a tricky question. The Step Thru has a higher payload capacity at 350lbs so you might be able to carry more cargo, it also has a larger battery so you would probably get more range, however, the Escape has full suspension probably making it more comfortable, and it also has hydraulic brakes which are probably better when hauling cargo. price is also something to consider since there is $300 dollar difference. you could also get one and do some mods, for instance get the steph thru then add hydraulic brakes and a suspension seat post...

In comparing hydraulic (are they truly hydraulic though?) to mechanical, one fellow was stating today that the mechanical are easy to change in comparison, and I'd assume perhaps a few $$ less. Not having ridden bikes with both, I can't honestly say what the difference is, but perhaps someone that has, will chime in soon.

I agree with the “Power Delivery” comment. I have a 750 M2S fat tire and and 2020 Rad Wagon. The M2S can be a little “unruly” and the Rad Wagon seems nice and smooth from dead stop to top speed. I would compare it to a corvette to a big Cadillac. But I do love the fact I can hit over 30mph on the M2S. Never on the Rad, especially with a kid in the back. Hey Citizen, I’m in Saxapahaw, lets meet up in Durham for a ride sometime.

I know what you mean about not trying hard pedaling uphill and applying extra force. You don't have to. You can pedal in any gear on PAS5 and it'll get you up the hill with not much pressure being applied to the pedals.

TOUGH BIKE TOO... I went over the handlebars and flipped the bike trail riding yesterday (I was wearing gloves and my hand got stuck between the throttle and the break and I hit a big root and rock while trying to break - ugh). The "locked" battery came flying off the bike and thought for sure it was snapped off and broken, however, it just snapped right back in with no issues. Besides some scratches on the battery case, the bike (and me) is fine. I took off the front fender as those hooks on the side stick out too far and have snagged on things on the trail.

I have 2 torque arms in front now with new suspension fork idk if the aluminum suspension fork safe with motor. Reading mixed it's ok its not idk. Been testing it's nice so far.

@@paulrybarczyk5013 Yes, back in June, Volt Bike Canada said they would ship in 2 weeks. They shipped on the 7th week. Himiway's website said allow 6-8 weeks for delivery. We paid 1,799 delivered X 2. 90% built, test ridden, Hydraulic disc brakes. No brake light, just tail light. Unlimiting the limiter, Tickles 25 mph, and played with the torque it's quicker. When warranties are up this 1st of July, I'll be following the foot steps of Bryan's RR conversion to the Citizen Cycle. We bought the seats and mirrors. This bike looks good but is it for me? Maybe to bulky and heavy though I'm also 6'1" like Citizen but about 200lbs. I still can't decide between a few bikes I've been looking at online like the Rad mini/mission/Rhino this Himiway and a few others. I think I would like three ebikes like a folder, a fat cruiser and an everyday around town like the Rad Mission but 3 is a bit OCD (which I have also so a Mountain bike too so that's 4 so far lol) maybe two but which 2! Thinking the Rad Mini & Mission or just the Himiway as I already have 2 normal Hybrid Road bikes but thinking of getting rid of those for ebikes. There's just not one solution that hits me as that's it, that's the one I need for what I want which is mainly leisure riding on big or small hilly roads and fairly smooth tracks & around town. Need lights, mud guards and stand so at least I know that much. Maybe get the Rad Mission to replace my everyday hybrid and see where I go from there if needed and later add a Himiway or Rad Mini (uses the same battery type as the Mission which is useful). Decisions ????????? Just go for the Himiway???????????? but is it practical for an everyday bike which is what I need as no other transport and no shed/garage so it's going to take up a large part of my living room but might squeeze into the hallway? nowadays when I cycle on my normal everyday hybrid which i do regularly then I really do start to get fatigued after a while (age 50+) and it is painful & draining so I need an ebike. Might delete this post later when I realise it's such a long waffle but it is my situation at present as I search for the, or a, solution. I think Rad Mission to start but this Himiway is very tempting and I can get it in the UK shipped from Germany. Would the Himiway basically be a lot more fun than the Rad Mission but still everyday practical and I'm not sure it would. Could Citizen by any chance do a comparison vid between these two bikes or types to answer why a person would choose one or the other. Are there any videos of why a fat bike is so appealing over other bikes? Must look that up. I think the Mission lacks gears is the main issue so perhaps they just need a geared version or maybe it's great as is with the general use 50-16 gearing?

I've put the Himiway bike through the paces for a few hundred miles and would like to offer my feedback. I've had several electric bikes previous to Himiway and have had to modify all of them to fit my needs. I ride mostly on back country dirt roads, logging roads, and forest trails. I've put 25,000+ miles or so on e bikes over the past 10 years. Maybe 5 - 10 % of that has been extreme conditions with lots of gravel, rocks, ruts, potholes, mud, and steep curvy narrow paths. I purchased the Himiway without trying it based on specs, but mostly because of testimonials, which in hindsight, I realized are mostly from casual and inexperienced e-bikers. This bike is best for predictable conditions. It's probably fabulous for beach riding. I don't recommend it for rough terrain. It's a very heavy bike that requires the assist being on to use the throttle. That means that when you start to peddle and are pointed toward a rock or hole, the bike lunges forward. Obstacles are hard to avoid. I'm glad Himiway sent me the wrong bike. I ordered the black men's bike and received a white step through. I've had to plant my feet firmly on the ground to avoid obstacles several times. I felt frustrated that I received the bike almost a month later than expected. On the whole, the bike is well designed and easily put together. The threads on the leftt pedal arrived squashed at the end, but I ground them down and installed the pedal. I was pleased to see that Himiway quickly sent a replacement. Another small problem I’ve had is the kickstand loosens up over rough terrain and rattles until I tighten it up again. I love the compact and nifty little tool kit provided my Himiway. The 48V 17.5 amp battery is a plus, though I'm skeptical about Himiway’s recommendation to leave it fully charged, when every battery spokesman says it will have a longer life if I don't. I have a 48 volt 15 amp battery on my BionX bike with a 1,000 watt motor. I expected to get better mileage with Himiway, but because the BionX charges while coasting and braking, I get similar mileage. BionX leaves the Himiway in the dust when climbing a steep hill, but mainly because I'm peddling twice as fast on the Himiway at 20 mph as I am on the other at 30mph. I'm going to look into modifying the gearing and also into the possibility of charging the battery on the go. After my first ride, I instantly upgraded by installing a water bottle, small saddle bag, and gel seat cover. I began by leaving the bike in 7th gear (for 20 miles) while using the motor to maintain speed. I tried shifting gears and using the motor as little as possible for the next 20 miles. I'm using a combo now. The two main changes I'm making to the bike at the moment are installing a 5" tire on the front for rocks, potholes, and snow and modifying the gearing by replacing the set of seven gears with a higher and lower ratio set, or installing three front gears and derailleur with the current size as the middle gear. I'll keep you updated and share my successes and failures with you. thanks, mark
