I would say he feels more like a Kobe. Kobe was a high jumper, but not insanely so, he was quick, but not insanely so, he was strong, but not insanely so. Kobe relied heavily on his fakes, footwork and shooting esp during his prime ('07) and he had that famous work ethic, same thing with Himuro.

@@watertruck9893 Nah, the uncrowned kings got clapped by Zone Kagami, and Himuro didn't do much better. To me, Himuro is like a Hayama and Mibuchi combination. We can say that Himuro is an all around player. Only in this sense would I agree with you that he is above UK and below GOM. He does somethings better and is all around player, sure, but is he a better shooter than Mibuchi? A better driver than Hayama? More muscle than Nebuya? Hell, he doesn't even naturally have a large hand like Kiyoshi. What Aomine said was clear, Himuro is as good as a normal, non-prodigy player can get, but he will never be in the GOM class, ever. IMO, he doesn't even do anything better to the degree that he is better at the specialties of the UKs. The only exception to this is his fakes, and I am saying all this based on the assumption that UKs are not prodigies, they trained to get to where they are. Yosen's coach did say that Himuro and Murasakibara are their double ace, but that's just comparing those two to the other three that hardly shined at all. Anime only guy, if anything is said in the manga, I don't know.

Catching your own airball is legal only if it's a legitimate shot attempt (like when you shoot and it misses the rim and backboard, and then you catch it). You can't use a move like this repeatedly throughout an entire match (and tournament) where you just throw it directly upwards and catch it again on purpose. On self-alleys, you're hitting the backboard so not relevant here. Feet being on the ground or in the air is also irrelevant. What counts is whether it's a shot attempt or not.

It’s hard to explain but when you play basketball it’s quite simple to do really, you bounce hard enough the balls momentum carries up with the one hand and bring the other hand as close as possible without touching it and simply bring it down again. As long as you don’t touch with both hands it’s legal. Loads of nba players do it. It’s called a hesi move look it up.

It’s also implied he does minute movements so well that even aomine genuinely thought he was going for a shot. So it’s possible that was just what the teammate thought he saw, rather than what himuro actually did.

That's nowhere near similar to Phantom Shot though. First, Mirage Shot is a fake by releasing the ball twice, while Phantom Shot is a trick shot that is only released once. Second, unlike in Phantom Shot, the ball in Mirage Shot doesn't look disappearing in the defender's sight.

His fakes work best on Kagami and Midorima because neither of them have the ability to respond quickly, large body to cover the entire pathway of the ball, or accurately predict what Himuro's next move will be.

If the jump is not yet over when he touches the ball the second time, then it's all legal. He catches the ball while he's still in the air and makes the shot right before he falls back to the ground.
