I'm getting my XM-18 3.5 20CV SPANTO Harpoon gen 6 with the textured Titanium scale like the one in this video next week. I can't wait! I put a wanted post up on BF and two days after purchasing the XM-18 3.5 Skinny Slicer gen 6 with factory scales on the same forum, a member contacted me about the Spanto. So, when the Slicer gets here tomorrow, it goes up for sale. I'll always keep the Spanto, it is my grail knife, but, it will be a daily for me. Thanks for all of your videos, and I blame you for getting me hooked on Hinderer's! 😜

Well MC...I now own two Hinderer xm-18 3.5 knives, both in s45vn. One is the flipper choiled spearpoint blue G-10 and the newest one is the bnib Harpoon Spanto flipper choiled in Red G-10 stonewashed...and i paid less than 620.00...on the secondary market....my knife collection has just moved up to the next level. 😊

Red XM-18 harpoon spantos FTW! I actually have a Wicked Edge and use it for reprofiling and initial polished edge, then doing touch ups with the Spyderco Sharpmaker and strops, at least for folders. The fixed blades are like 50% convex, so I use a Ken Onion WorkSharp for those. I look forward to your sharpening reaching new heights, it was super exciting when I went through that process.

The harpoon spanto is one of my favorite blade shapes. The only knife I own two of is the ZT 0393. I bought a backup when they discontinued the blue model

@@metal_complex Should have? You still can. There's a number of places that still have them in stock with some peddling them at a discounted $180. 0393's just beg to be customized. I actually have 2 scheduled for delivery today from BHQ so I can do custom ano & make some full margin scales with my color matched marbled C.F., one with inlays & one with window cuts & texturing to give out as thank you gifts.

$625...just about a hundred per ounce. Just my opinion, but a little overpriced for me. I only recently got my first Hinderer, xm-18 gen 6, g10, m390, they call it a swedge design blade. Blue titanium and came with all blue g10. I went and ordered the blue/black g10 scale, couldn't find one that came with that particular color. $425. Can't deny it's a solid heavy duty knife. And I'm not knocking on you for paying what you did. If you love it, it's your money. I got the tool too. I bought a black hardware set but ended up switching it back to the polished hardware it came with. Looking forward to seeing what sharpening system you got. I started out with the sharpmaker, then got the Lansky clamp system and returned it the next day. Ended up spending the money and got a KME and it's great.

If you really like hinderer knives, try a dauntless. I know they are pretty different, but really similar too. Same blade thickness forward choilsame type of finish. They are just more refined. Rounded handles, slimmer, deep carry clip. Give it a try.

Thats what I thought the first time I saw one (around 2012-2013). I had to save for quite a while to afford my first, but it was worth it.

Btw one of my fav things about a knife is playing with it and how good it looks. I like to feel the action and the fact that a hinderer is a flipper is big for me. I don’t care about your bias. You say hinderer?

Gotta use everything. I found that I was babying my knives and when I’d scratch one it drove me crazy. I then realized why would I be buying things that bring me negativity. Now I just use them. Worse case scenario there are lots of great modders out their that can reblast, regrind refinish your knife.
