It is not Shakahari Bazaar, but it is Shaankhaari Bazaar. Shaankha shankh se bana ek churdi hai jise Bengali ladies pahante hain. Aur us tarah ke churdi banaane waale ko Shaankhaari kahte hain.

Shankhari bazar(शंखारी बाजार) is the market of Hindu community only. Here the market is after the name of maker of 'shankha' i.e. bangles made from conch(शंख) which Bengali Hindu bride wear as a sign of married. Most of the shops are of conch bangles(शंखा), wedding articles, puja materials and others. Here Hindu people live from generation after generation for hundreds of years. And in Bangladesh Hindus are largest minority community, about 8 percent of population.
