I fell in my driveway and fractured the femoral neck. I had a partial hip replacement. I was 1 month and 2 weeks from turning 80. (chronologically) Biologically younger with a younger activity level, having completed 2 very strenuous backpacking trips on a portion of the Pacific Crest Trail and also repairing, painting and skirting my home that had suffered long neglect. My excellent physical condition contributed to a very rapid progress post surgical for the first 7 weeks when I had excellent hands on therapy, first in a nursing facility and then at home for a month. I live alone. I can tell you I loved having the nurse, Pt and OT visits to brighten my days and also to hold me accountable, to give the emotional encouragement. About 2 1/2 weeks after discharge from home health I became depressed, didn't dress, stayed in my recliner and slept a lot, with little exercise. I snapped out of it and resumed exercises after 3 weeks. All my therapy had been while I had limitations imposed on movements and none for post limitations. I was on my own and looked to KZfaq sites with physiotherapists but my Range of Motion and flexion did not improve sufficiently. My Surgeon prescribed more PT and I now go 2x a week and am making better progress. Though I was highly motivated, without guidance I was not doing the best exercises nor doing others most efficiently. I definitely support continued work under the guidance of a physiotherapist for better utilization of rehab exercises, for accountability and motivation and for the extra social contact for those who live alone.

I broke my left hip right where my implant from an older hip replacement and I’m 69. No surgical repair it healed on its own. 3 weeks in rehab and sent home

MY SON BROKE HIS HIP JUST LIKE THAT.HE IS VERY ILL LOTS OF PROBLEM IN WICH ONE IS HEART FAILURE.WE CALL THE AMBULANCE BUT THEY SEAD HE CANT HAVE SURGERY AS HIS HEART WILL FALL AND HE HAS TO LIVE LIKE THAT.I WONDER IS THERE ANY SPECIAL BRACELET THAT CAN HELP.?
