I’m 77yrs old & have lived in Fort Worth for 26 years. I graduated from high school about the time that the righteous brothers were really becoming big! Listen to them, singing, “You’ll never walk alone.” They are always amazing and the very best! I love them more today than I did back in the 60s!

They were amazing so iconic of their era in the 60’s, so many of us “BOOMERS” grew up and fell in love to their music. So cool!

According to BMI (an official music licensing organization) and they would know, this was the most played song on radio for the entire 20th Century. It made #1 in all the music trade publications in February, 1965.

Bill Medley, the bass, is still going strong. He wrote and performed, along with Jennifer Warnes, The Time of My Life for the movie Dirty Dancing. Unfortunately the great Bobby Hatfield died in 2003. Bobby had such strong stage fright that he turned to cocaine to self-medicate and that weakened his heart. He died in his sleep the night before a scheduled concert. His voice was magic!

Originally part of a 5-member band called the Paramours, Hatfield and Medley broke away to form a duo. During a performance at a military base, some of the black marines yelled out "you guys sound righteous, brothers" due to the soulfulness of their sound. The name stuck and they were nicknamed "blue-eyed soul". Sadly, some white radio stations refused to originally play this song because their sound and name of the group led the station to assume they were black artists. The song received air time on black radio stations until the stations called them in for an interview; when they realized they were white, they stopped playing the song for a while as they assumed their audience wouldn't listen to "two white guys". Fortunately greatness overcame those circumstances and this song became the most played song on American radio and television in the 20th century with over 8 million air-plays by 1999.

Recently listened to an interview with them. They were singing in a club and trying to come up with a name for themselves, but nothing was quite right. After the show, an audience member walked up to them and said, "That was righteous, man." And so, the Righteous Brothers were born.

I was about 14 when this song came out. Sometimes these TV broadcasts were actually sung live. So sometimes you were not hearing a broadcast of the recording.

My brother, they were not even related. Bill Medley is the bass singer, Bobby Hatfield is the guy with the high pitched voice.. Two southern Calif boys in the early 60’s singing blue-eyed soul, and they were named The Righteous Bro’s. by a black Chicago DJ. Playing their vinyl with no idea who they were, after the records were played, the DJ would excitedly exclaim “That’s RIGHTEOUS, brother!” Bobby died in a motel room in Kalamazoo, MI some years back the night before their performance there. But their music was from their inner soul, you can’t “teach” something like this. This shows me, time and again, how music transgresses our daily differences from others. Bill was a good friend of Elvis n after Elvis died Bill wrote a tribute song called " Old Friend" Bill had tears in his eyes when he sang that song. Bill was also upset when Bobby died in 2003 at age 63. I grew up with the Righteous Brothers n Elvis

They started as rivals at first in a battle of the bands in the Orange County large dance convention styloe competition to see who is better. I was more Bill Medley than Bobby. I always knew they weren't really brothers, but I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks they kinda looked like real brothers. I've been a fan of these guys for years, and I got to see them live a few times when I lived in Vegas in the mid-90s. Those shows were 30 years after the records were released and they definitely still had it. BTW, I'm a fellow Texan, born and raised in San Antonio and now living in New Braunfels.

This was live 1965 on The Andy Williams Show, watched it with my folks, I was 15 at the time. I have all their LP's and play them along with all the other great duos, solos, groups and bands from the 50's 60's and 70's.. this is a very deep rabbit hole young man...but what a journey

Bobby Hatfield was the tenor voice and Bill Melody was the baritone voice they shouldn't have blended together but they did and it was pure magic.

When I was 14 years old I got to see the Righteous Brothers in concert (1966 was the year). They were fantastic!! By the way, Bill Medley owned two 1950-1960's dance clubs in Southern California called "The Hop". I'm not sure if this dance club is still in business.

You may want to research a little about Phil Spector. He was the guy behind the "Wall of Sound" style of production. He knew how to take superb talent like the Righteous Brothers and make them spectacular!

Although I have to get over the idea that I'm watching a video of someone watching a video I still never get over how great it is to see someone experienced these guys for the first time. I was raised on the Righteous Brothers and I've always thought there was some of the greatest musicians ever singers I should say and you can't I can't say enough about how great they are and to see anyone else watch it and to be get over the idea that they're white in the first place much less that good a singers and Unchained Melody is a must but that's mostly Bobby or only Bobby but you got to Listen to Soul and inspiration it's a must

The levels are the rudimentary sound system they had back them. These gentlemen didn't have auto tune, mechanically altered voices. This was a live performance as most of the sixties. Watch "Unchained Melody" It focuses on the tenor....Bobby Hatfield. He's amazing too.

It cant be todays audio quality. Its from 1965. I think the singing is so good. No autotune, remix or anything else. Just two guys singing better than most of todays singers.

"We used to get quite a few black Marines coming down from this Marine base, El Toro. Bill and I started doing more and more duets together. Fabian I was awake and you came out and I had to tell you I was 12 years old when these songs came out no they are not blood brothers they had lots of good music dying that time Unchained Melody came out in the movie Ghost if you remember and you' be lost that loving feeling came out in the movie Top Gun ,sadly to say Bobby Hatfield passed away in 2003 and he was the best of the best I still listen to there music R I P Bobby
