His sister sewed him a school uniform, but it would get torn up on stage so he wore his actual high school uniform. I can't recall if this was a fever dream, or not, but I swear I read somewhere that he also wore it for irony as he spent more time out of school than in it (at the time).

Fun fact: this song was instrumental (no pun intended) in the rescue of an American military pilot Mike Durant. Pilot of an American Blackhawk helicopter callsign Super 6-4 who was shot down and captured by Somalian militiamen. He was held captive for 11 days before he was repatriated back to the US. During the time of his captivity, after he thought he was going to be left behind, he had heard this song playing over loudspeakers from another helicopter with the message "Mike Durant, we won't leave here without you!" This whole escapade was one of the most famous events in American military history Operation Gothic Serpant. And was later made into a film called "Blackhawk down"

One thing the film left out of the movie is how exactly we got him back. A hostage negotiator met with a representative of the people holding him. The negotiator listened to the demands listed from the guy including wanting 70 of his men released... then our negotiator gave him an ultimatum... “I’ll do my best to see that these people are released, but I can’t promise anything,” Oakley said. “I’ll even talk to the President about it, but only after you’ve released Durant.” Oakley was careful to say, “This is not a threat,” but then he laid out a chilling scenario. He offered it as friendly advice. “I have no plan for this, and I’ll do everything I can to prevent it, but what will happen if a few weeks go by and Mr. Durant is not released? Not only will you lose any credit you may get now, but we will decide that we have to rescue him. I guarantee you we are not going to pay or trade for him in any way, shape or form. . . “So what we’ll decide is we have to rescue him, and whether we have the right place or the wrong place, there’s going to be a fight with your people. The minute the guns start again, all restraint on the U.S. side goes. Just look at the stuff coming in here now. An aircraft carrier, tanks, gunships . . . the works. Once the fighting starts, all this pent-up anger is going to be released. This whole part of the city will be destroyed, men, women, children, camels, cats, dogs, goats, donkeys, everything. . . . That would really be tragic for all of us, but that’s what will happen.” It was probably a bluff... but it worked.
@SGTJDerek
@SGTJDerek 4 жыл бұрын
@@macmcgee1417 oh it was a bluff alright. Clinton really left the BOG hanging. While all of this was going down, he was in backroom negotiations with the very same people we were sent after but nobody In Country knew. Don't even think the Pentagon knew.

I remember when Bon Scott died...And I was somewhat surprised that this band announced that they were carrying on...Really? How would they address this? Ignore it...Take some weird left field turn? "We're a progressive rock band, now"...No...Head on...This massive dark intro that acknowledged the loss, then cranked full on into a tribute to his spirit, their love for him, and their determination to do what they did...Bon would've loved this...And it was so life-affirming...

I remember too, I was only a kid at the time but my older cousin was a huge ACDC fan (travelled to see them in concert a few times) and she was gutted. I remember listening to the Bon Scott era stuff with her (only thing I can really thank my extended family for is an excellent introduction to a lot of different music), and also being very confused that the band were continuing after the lead singer was gone because I just couldn't understand how that would work. And then Back in Black came out, I got the cassette of it for Christmas, and it was like 'Oh, okay, so that's how they're gonna do it, awesome!' I still mostly listen to the Bon Scott stuff though, because that was just my first AC/DC introduction and love, but yeah even young as I was I appreciated the transition to Brian Johnson. Ride on though, Bon.

They really did fucking nail it with Brian Johnson! I'm too young to have ever experienced... Well, most of the things, really =D I was born in ´84, but i do find myself loving a lot of the hard rock and metal from the very beginnings as well as the really early rock stuff as well. Back in black is just such a fucking masterpiece and the process of them mourning and simultaneously going on and finding Brian... Well, it's just epic!

@@retirewithoptions2913 sadly, I KNOW that much of the generation born after the 80s ISNT metal aware....hell musically aware in general. We are older parents to a teen. Since she was a tot, I've been around teens (12 years+ now) and these kids I am with DO NOT know ANYTHING about music from a time before themselves. Their parents dont share their music, and they have no desire to hear it. It's not like when we were kids and everyone had to listen to the radio station the parents liked in the car. Everyone has their own devices and headphones now. Our kid was baby head banging at like 2 to all the greats...and now wants nothing to do with them....well will tolerate Metalica. Sad but true. Today's kids are musically ignorant. @@Blitzkugel100 Not sure, really. Personally, Hells Bells has always been way behind a bunch of other AC/DC songs in terms of which song I think of when I hear the name AC/DC. Anyway, my impression has been that Back in Black, Thunderstruck, Highway to Hell and You Shook Me All Night Long are the most famous songs, but who knows. Oh, actually, if Spotify is any indicator, those are four of the top 5 songs on AC/DC's artist page, along with TNT, which you mentioned. With Back in Black being the most played one.

How the hell do you not know this song? That is one of the most iconic songs on earth because it’s on one of their most iconic albums. I am a beginner guitarist and I already know this, I’m a lady so ya know. At 1:54 did you just say you don’t think you know one AC/DC song? I’ve heard them all and I’m only 20!!!! But it’s cool that you’re getting into them better late than never. And if you have never seen them live then you need to go see them. When they tour again which they are going to soon. They have been around for a long time they have been around basically since rock ‘n’ roll was born. I do love how he said “whooo look at that guitar!” When they first showed Malcolm! Rock in peace Malcolm! 1953-2017!!!! Also to answer your question that is a gretsch white falcon widely known because of this particular guitarist Malcolm! The same for his gretsch jet fire birds !

Hells Bells has always been my favorite AC/DC song and my favorite Angus Young guitar solo. Not only have I seen AC/DC live in concert a couple of times but I also got to meet them backstage on their Razors Edge tour. Yes, Angus and Malcolm were exceptionally short (I'm nearly a foot taller than Angus). During one of their live shows, I got to meet the drummer (Scott Travis) for Judas Priest in the audience while the band was playing For Those About To Rock. @@busimagen The semi-hollow body has a slightly more resonate tone compared to the solid body. As such, you generally use a little less distortion with the semi-hollow. It should also be noted this particular semi-hollow has a very large hollow space compared to most semi-hollows. Dave Grohl plays a more sleek and modern version of the semi-hollow, but doesn't get quite the resonance of a guitar of that size.
