Hip Hop Vocals - Tracking Through UAD Unison Preamp and External Compressor

As they say, there’s nothing like hardware when it comes to audio. Even using the power of UAD Unison preamps, there’s just something about tweaking the knobs and watching a real VU meter while tracking vocals. Not to mention that, while I can get a great take using a software compressor in Console, I find there truly is an added body through the hardware.
In this video I’ll demonstrate how I record using #uad unison preamps routed directly to an external compressor and then into the DAW. Hope you find it helpful!

Very dope bro. Nice bars too 💯. This might be how I do my hybrid set up. What mic do you use and is the the Apollo x8p?

Much appreciated! Loving this setup so I def recommend it. I switch between 4 different mics depending on the voice. I have an Advanced Audio CM800T, Slate ML-1, Aston Spirit, and Oktava MK-207. Its just the Apollo 8.

just tried that, I hear the compression in the daw, but I see no changes at the waveform? and I can't regulate the output at my comp doesn't change anything in the daw did everything u did in that video, the needle shows its compressing but on my second preamp slot it doesn't show any gain when talking when its set to line only when I put it on mic level it show gain on both preamp slots... what am I missing bro?
