Hippodrome is a fighting game released by Data East in 1989, for the Arcade rooms. Is also known as Fighting Fantasy.
You have entered the Hippodrome. Once a year, there is a worldwide competition to determine the best fighter in the planet.
The winner must have the strongest combination of power and skill. Creatures are gathering from all over the planet to find out who will be this year's champion.
A brave knight has the chance to test his skills against the world's best. Be prepared.

Fun fact: the final boss of this game, Pon the Giant, is a playable character in the pseudo-sequel, Death Brade / Mutant Fighter. He's even named Pon in the Japanese version (Death Brade).

A pesar del control un poco tocho has manejado muy bien la situación. Enhorabuena por la partida y las grandes palizas que los has dado.

Bueno no me parece poco manejable en verdad, aunque el hecho de tener un botón para saltar si que es cierto que nos dificulta un poco, acostumbrados a usar la palanca de direcciones. De todos los combates, el mas jodido sin lugar a dudas es el de los Gemeliers y el Mago, los demas son bastante majetes.

Like. Este es poco conocido y es de los que yo jugaba en los recreativos y nunca conseguí terminar la partida duraba muy poco ahora con el mame ya es otra cosa. Gran partida.

Si que es verdad que poca gente lo conoce, yo porque lo había en el centro comercial de al lado de mi casa, pero el par de veces que jugué la lamia me fundió (Tiene un ataque con la cola que si te pilla bien te funde toda la vida la cabrona). Maskaman tiene una partida en la que gana todos los combates sin recibir un miserable toque :0

I remember being able to finish this game on 1 quarter at the arcades... one of the FEW games where the game is "fair"...

Maybe, but Hippodrome is for me the best fighting game in that era, far better than Street Smart or the first Street fighter. By the way, I alwais buy generic cereals at the supermarket :P

@@Krazy_Kenny Sf1 is almost unplayable and most of time you need a lot of luck to beat the rivals. But I agree with the sound effects.

I did rather prefer playing soccer games like Tekhan World Cup, and at this Hippodrome game, I wasn't very good. I did never find a way to defeat Medussa. She always did find a way to wrap me up with her tail and I was always the defeated one. So I never couldn't get onto the next stage or adversory. But despite that, I used to play it from time to time.

Veo que eres español, no te salen la descripción del vídeo en castellano? Lo poco que jugue de peque al este Hippodrome Medusa me daba para el pelo. Los juegos arcade nunca han sido fáciles, pero a pesar de su dificultad, me parece el mejor juego de lucha de la época, tanto en jugabilidad, diversión y aspecto técnico. Una pena que tan poca gente lo conozca...

@@RetroDanuart sí, soy español. Anoche jugué en casa de unos amigos al Tehkan World Cup y a pesar del tiempo de no jugar, la experiencia es un grado y les di p'al pelo, jejeje. También les comenté de Hippodrome, pero sin recordar el nombre, haciendo mención a Medussa. Luego buscando por Internet lo encontré y he aquí que puse mi post en este video. Al que juego ahora en el portátil es al GP500 de Microprose, que es el que más me apasiona. Para mi el mejor simulador de motos de Gran Premio. Saludos y gracias por responder a mu post anterior. 😉

En mi opinión este es el mejor juego de lucha uno contra uno que existió hasta la aparición de Street Fighter 2.

Posiblemente, ya que ni Street fighter 1 ni Street Smart son superiores en ningun apartado, ni técnico ni mucho menos jugable.

@@RetroDanuart Mutant Fighter/Death Brade and Hippodrome were two of my favorite Data East-games back in the day. The Giant in Hippodrome also follows the same these as Hercules in MF/Death Brade.

Joder que recuerdos, cuando le pillas la mecanica algunos pueden resultar hasta faciles, pero otros son jodidos, fundamental jugar con stick arcade.

En los juegos todo es practicar y al final hasta parecen asequibles. Lo que pasa es que practicar en un arcade era complicado pues tenías que disponer de mucho dinero. Respecto al control, es bastante jugable, aunque lo de tener un botón para saltar te despista algo al principio.

@@RetroDanuart era de los 80s o 90s salian unos monos con armaduras, espadas, hachas y peleabas con otros y se tenian que ir quitando las armaduras hasta que ya no tenias nada y morias y salian unas guerreras y les quitabas la armadura y se quedaban en topples

En el peor de los casos en sitios como Progetto snaps hay sets de pantallazos de juegos. Prueba a mirar igual acabas encontrando, es raro pero no me suena de nada. Era un beat em up, un run n gun?
