It really was touching. Kinda bummed me out right in the middle of all the excitement though. And I wanted to feel sorry for Sako. I really did, but I couldn't. As far as I'm concerned, Hiragi should have kicked his ass long ago if they had ever found each other on the streets. We see from the flashback that Soka was book smart. Enough to get bullied about it. He's taught to defend himself and others and at one day being told he can follow a different path (precisely because he's book smart, maybe make it to university, many of them probably won't), he acts in the most immature way possible and does things that go against Hiragi's teachings, basically becoming the scum from which he was once saved. His selfishness knew no bounds and the anger over Hiragi trying to steer him in a better direction knew no bounds either. Even he said he knew what he was doing and feeling, which is why I can't feel sorry for him. He made a lot of wrong choices... on purpose. ~ Vero ~

And no matter how book smart they are teen agers are also emotionally immature and prone to make decisions based on emotions rather than logic. All Sako wanted was for Hiiragi to acknowledge him and allow him to follow. None of what Hiiragi did or said was wrong, but Sako felt abandoned by the one person he admired. Feelings are most of the time irrational. And Sako made a bad decision based on feeling abandoned. He himself acknowledged Hiiragi wasn't wrong, even so all he wanted was for him to let him follow. I love how the characters in Wind Breaker feel like teen agers in a way that seems genuine and realistic. .

@umichandesu I said what I said knowing Sako is just a teenager. Being a teenager only excuses so much behaviour. As someone that grew up in a very bad neighborhood, let me tell you, your decisions have consequences, and you know they do way before they come. Whether it's to have sex at 12 and 13, you know you'll end up pregnant. Didn't expect to be a teen puta in the same corner as "el punto" (where drugs are sold)? That's on you. Stealing cars in high school to sell for parts? Don't be surprised when the police shows up at your house. Did something to the rival drug pushers in the neighborhood? Well now you've got a car chase in broad daylight with people shooting at you. You want a street fight? Well you've got it. Because you felt like it. And even though emotions may run high, it is still your choice to hang out with the bad crowd/s. Sako did just that. He CHOSE to hang out with the bad crowd, Shishitoren, who beat people up to show off power. I can't defend him because he was self aware. The whole time he was angry and allowed that anger to motivate him to get stronger, he was self aware that he was wrong. Teenagers can be irrational and run on emotions, yes, they do a lot of dumb shit, but let's not pretend they are completely unaware of what they are doing. Even Sakura has made it clear, he's looking to street fight. Irrational and stupid indeed, but a clear statement and goal. ~ Vero ~

I am super excited!!! And although not expecting two episodes for their fights, it makes sense to dive deeper into our MCs past while he's fighting, get to know our Bofurin Alpha who, except for being something of an airhead when really relaxed and quite adorable, remains something of a mystery. And of course, a true flashback of Shishitoren through the leaders because we don't really know much about this pack of chimpanzees yet except that they like to dominate. ~ Vero ~

There's another guy, at least he decided to go to furin while still following alongside hiragi 😆 I'll give some hints, that guy was one of the furin members who fought against those thugs back in episode 1), he also appeared in this episode's flashback of sako's past. He's featured in both the OP & ED as well. I even told you before (as he has a special position within furin). Could you guess who is that character 😆
