She didn't. That's the catch. She saw something so alluring, so captivating, that she HAD to have it. The horror is in the fact that it's not real and she pays the price for her greed.

Great video! Loved it. I bet the hands that are in the safe are previous people who tried to open it. I think that once the people before the girl opened the safe would get their hands cut off once opening the safe, then once they try to find out what is inside, their hands would be cut off from getting what the actual treasure or surprise that is hiding inside. It's like the safe is alive like a person who is camouflaging or hiding the valuables and using that safe as camaflouge. :)

I wanna say that I am totally impressed with the fact that BlackBoxTV is smart enough to team up with someone as insanely talented as Drew Daywalt!! When you combine so much talent into one collaboration, you're bound to come up with some amazing shorts! Ever since I saw my very first Daywalt short (Bedfellows) I've said that in the next 10 years maybe less) he'll go down as one of the greatest names in the history of Horror! Now I'm watching Tony's work and I can see why they work so well together...I look forward to seeing more collaborations between the two of them! (but man do I feel sorry for those that have to follow them, is like me following John Lennon at a songwriting contest..lol!)

waaaaaaaaay back when, stealing was punishable with the severing of the hands or even death, and thats what i think the safe represents.

The hands are everyone's who could open it. They succeeded but the same thing happened. I believe when she first opened the safe the hands weren't there but something else. No one would try to grab severed hands. Anyway brilliant episode.
