She has it all: breathtaking technical command, a lionesses prowess, a playful spirit, and a rich, deep soulfulness. We’re lucky to be able to witness her.

"lionesses prowess" - pretentiousness as thick as molasses.

As an experiment , my wife and I played the middle section of this our great granddaughter . 5 minutes and she fell asleep with a smile . I’ll cherish that moment for ever and beyond . Thank you my gifted lady .

5' in - how does she even do that? This whole performance is exquisite. The touch, the timing, the voicing, the harmonic development. Hat's Off!

She is the most amazing creature playing piano music I’ve ever heard/seen. Pure joy to watch her play/interact with her trio and a slice of heaven for the ears

Either you have a mighty crush, or you are an idolater. On the other hand, what's the diff? If you really want to experience heaven some day, you must worship God and accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.

Non-verbal communication through music 😌 when we hear Hiromi's sigh here and there, it just solidifies the music even more. Many excited moments have given me tears down my cheek. I binge watch KZfaq videos of this trio on a regular basis, as it's my new drug. ❤️

Please leave Beethoven in peace…..if something has NOTHING to do with jazz is this piece. You can also listen to Jose Carreras singing

It's quite hard to turn a classical piece of music into a real jazz music piece. She does it effortlessly

Hiromi is an incredible musician with otherworldly technical prowess, and the joy radiating from her performance is infectious. Is it Jazz, is it Classical? I see her in the tradition of Gershwin & Bernstein. I don't about her background but she comes across as a classically trained pianist who got into a improvisation after hearing some Art Tatum & Oscar Peterson. .
@heartvalais Жыл бұрын
That’s pretty much what happened. Her first piano teacher introduced her to all kinds of music including jazz. Specifically Errol Garner and Oscar Peterson.

Even if i prefer Simon Phillips, Steve Smith is a great and has the best brushes for beginners and more.
@franktaylor79782 жыл бұрын
I saw Hiromi a number of times with both and I have to say, Steve was better both times I saw them. Simon is without a doubt an incredibly talented drummer and no complaints at all but I preferred Steve. It was also the venue may have added to it. Yoshi's is small and Steve has a dynamic range and delicacy that is just right for that setting. I saw two nights in that setting with Steve. Simon I saw with her at SF Jazz multiple times (I think 4) and overtime it seemed more heavy and didn't compliment what she brought as well. Still were great shows. It was subtle but Steve brought a dynamic range and delicacy that was better with what Hiromi brought out on the keys.

@@franktaylor7978 I agree 100%. Simon is a great drummer, but, I prefer Steve, especially with Hiromi and Anthony. Exquisite trio
