I think with Zen'kiki it's implied that he's no longer incompetent which is really sweet. You trained him for a bit, maybe you run into him a couple more times and you see his progress, like Nazgrim or Admiral Taylor

I'd have included Asric and Jadaar, who started in Shattrath during TBC , also showed up in WotLK, and sometimes are spotted at the Darkmoon Faire. They're a blood elf and a draenei who were forced to work together investigating Griftah, hated each other, had hilarious banter, and eventually became friends. They were great and I'm sorry they haven't had more appearances.

Millhouse Manastorm and his wife are bosses in one of Shadowlands dungeon, "the other side " or something like that. Apparently they gained their power from pact with Mueh'zala.

Harry Silvermoon. Human, obsessed with Blood Elves, that he even forced his gf to wear BE mask. I don't know about his adventures after WOTLK, but he showed up in Nazmir, because he messed up Blood Trolls and Blood Elves. J. J. Keeshan. He is not odd odd. He is like shell shocked. And his quests always military crazy. And he tried to pick up Kelsey Steelspark in Nazmir. I don't think, that this was a good idea. Marcus the paladin. He is not an NPC. But we can find his "books" all over Azeroth. In these books you can read about his "love" adventures with tauren girl, undead girl, succubus (girl), threesome with some elven chicks and even some homoaction with Blood Elve male dude.

I thought that Jaraxxus would be at the top, yet he didn't even make it on the list. Oh the poor Eredar Lord of The Burning Legion.

My favourite oddball is definitely Thisalee Crow. Chaotic good druid at its finest.

A special mention must go to the dragon Azuregos who WAS IN LOVE WITH A SPIRIT HEALER. Also, the whole random jousting tournament in icecrown in the middle of a zombie apocalypse made me think that Tirion wasn't all there upstairs.

While Dumass and Johnny Awesome were memorable characters, Kingslayer Orkus of that same questline was my favorite of the three. He had a funny introduction, a lovable personality and an absolutely depressing end to his story where he sacrificed himself to help you recover alliance plans and is remembered and honored as a hero of the horde. I still can't keep from tearing up when I do that questline.

Fun fact: Budd actually started out in TBC, as an NPC that had you go loot things from him within the Zul'Aman raid. He was NOT an oddball at that point; he was deceitful and greedy... and part of that personality does stick with him, but more for comic relief.

4:41 another small thing, at the point this quest was added heirlooms were pieces of gear that you couldn't reclaim from the heirloom tab like you can now. they were real pieces of armor and weapons that you had to mail between characters. there was even an heirloom tracker in case you lost one of them, because they were really really expensive at the time and you couldn't just buy gold.

Millificent mama storm also appears as one of the randomized final fights in the hearthstone Dalaran Heist solo adventure during the “violet hold” chapter. It’s pretty funny, as Mulhouse actually starts the fight on your side, but after seeing that the boss is his wife, he “hides” (shuffled himself) in your deck. She actually is much more set on killing her husband than you the player. It’s a pretty funny interaction all around.

This needs a part 2. With Griftah.

I recognized so many (and yes, did quite a few Inn quests in Draenor for them). I LOVE that Cro was at the top of the list. During part of Burning Crusade, I hurt my wrist and didn't play much. Mind you, I LOGGED ON, but pretty much sat on the roof across from the Scryer bank, as a friend said (very nicely) "You HAVE to be here. We need you. You don't have to play, you just have to be here!" SO, I spent a LOT of time reading NPC dialog and just got a KICK out of Cro's crazy ramblings. At first I thought I was crazy when I saw that his dialog had changed, but it wasn't me, it HAD changed. :D So many others I love as well. Lunk, Zankiki, Maximillian. As much as I missed a lot of the original quests from Vanilla (and no, I've found that I lack patience to play Classic these days), Cata introduced some really fun NPCs. The game needed some quirky, funny people around. I also love that there are places (such as the garrison) where they can end up in your company again. For honorable mentions, I'd include one of my favorite bit lugs, BLOOKIE from my garrison. He loves to fight but is friendly and loyal. As someone said below, the three guys telling tall tales in the Badlands about how they defeated Deathwing. I'd also say Margoss was kind of an eccentric too.

God cata quests were so good

Those two NPCs in Zandalar that have you do quest for the two brutosaurs, and after you complete the quest, they sometimes write you letters about the brutosaurs you helped.

I wish johnny awesome was a follower for the hunter order hall in legion.

When Blizz had a problem with boats to Auberdine and Mennathil, they were replaced by Captain Placeholder who teleported you to Auberdine.

You left out the best part of Maximillion - he's based on Don Qujiote de La Mancha and his quest chains across all the expansions reference this. He's also the best Paladin following in Legion with his own Artifact - Excaliburto!

I got 2: First, the homicide detective in Westfall with his eye rolling one liner. Second, one I barely, vaguely remember. There was this one gnome in the Stone Talon Mountains that was removed in Cataclysm. I can't remember his name. In fact, I'm not even sure if it was a gnome anymore. Sorry. Anyways, there was an npc back in Vanilla Stone Talon that was a member of a tiny organization. I can't remember the name it. I've been trying to find it but no luck. The org. was devoted to the idea of merging literally everything into one big powerful thing. Meaning that they wanted to combine the powers of technology with shaman's elemental magic, druids nature magic, mage's arcane arts etc etc. The organization went to Stone Talon to test out their theories on the Venture Co. employees. Nothing much came from it. The build up was hilarious and I was sad that they never made a comeback. Anyone remember any details of that little quest chain?

You forgot to mention Maximillian of Northshire is based on Miguel de Cervantes' novel, Don Quixote de la Mancha. Which is an old man that read a lot of knight novels and goes crazy, thinking he's living in a medieval era, fighting giants (which are actually windmills) and dedicating all his fights to his beloved Dulcinea (which he thought was a noble, and in reality was a prostitute). He also has a squire, Sancho Panza, which in the game would be...well..you. Maximillian has a lot of Quixote references even in his dialogues. Great video!

I remember doing the Postmaster quest chain in legion, and the time when you deliver Invincible's Reins to Johnny Awesome in the Steam Pools, I linked the item in chat, people freaked out before even clicking on it, and I felt really sad that I couldn't actually learn it, damn you Johnny...

dumass is my son and i love him very much. id love a part 2 that includes notable husbands tehd and marius because they deserve it edit: forgot to mention that zen'kiki is also my son. hes just bad at fighting, but hes confirmed to be an excellent healer as seen with him curing wildlife in his quest chain

What about Dagg, everybody's favorite 'unanimous' orge rogue? He's the Where's Waldo of Wow. He's also one of the few NPCs from alternate Draenor, like Gul'dan, to travel to Azeroth.

Maximillian of Northshire is probably a reference to Don Quixote del la Mancha (a book character) whos an old mand with delusions of being a gallant knight in shiny armor. Another evidence of the reference is that Don Quixote faces his greatest enemy in the book: a windmill. When you help him out in Un'goro he gives you a "Toy Windmill". Sir Cadwell (♥) from ESO might also be reference to him.

you left out a portion of Lunk. he is part of the chain involving the dwarves where you must gain the trust of the other dwarves to join the attack.part of which involves a conga line led by Lunk. when all is done he gives you a reward choice item saying how proud he is of you.

Johnny Awesome can also be seen in the Molten Front if you're a hunter or shaman, using their skills Eagle Eye and Far Sight, to spy up on the area where the raid platform is. You can find a small group of NPCs preparing to start a Firelands raid, and Johnny is one of them, of course sitting on the ground being AFK like usual.

I know I'm late here, but I never thought about how, while I don't like what Cata did to the Old World, it did introduce a lot of really good NPCs that added a ton of flavor to questing zones.

i believe you missed a reference from Lunk as he appears on the darkmoon see-saw toy occasionally when you place it. Not sure if it's actually lunk though but its the same model :D. Edit: used the toy again and yep it's Lunk alright, he spawns on the seesaw with the dialog "Lunk loves to play seesaw!" and you as the player have a dialog option to say "Please let someone else have a turn, Lunk." which kicks him off the seesaw.

Didn't know Cro had that type of significance. I remember him from BC and remember speaking to him for mats but man I forgot he existed. Ha I immediately thought Milhouse was going to top the list, but I'm glad he didn't. Not because I don't like it because I do, alot but simply because it's good to know that there are other NPCs out there that rival him. WoW lore is so vast and it's always refreshing to learn/see something new or different.

Min Dimwind is a Pandaren you encounter on the Wandering Isle - you encounter him after he has lost his cart. He gives you a quest to help find his cart, during which he will helpfully yell "CART! CAAAAARRRRRTTTTTT!!!!!".

My guess is they wanted a leatherworking vendor in the rogue class hall, so they put in Granny Smith, but for some reason this Cro Threadsong guy shows up, and they managed to force him it just in time for the launch of Legion.

It's widely believed that Gunther Arcanus was originally intended to be associated with the Vanilla-planned Necromancer class before it was scrapped. Why his intro quest chain survived is up for debate, but that would make sense.
