In January of this year, Raphael Thattil was elected of India’s Syro-Malabar Catholic Church. His Beatitude Mar Raphael Thattil was installed as the Major Archbishop on 11 January 2024. His Beatitude made his first official visit to His Eminence Christoph Cardinal Schönborn and the Archdiocese of Vienna on 25 May 2024. He was accompanied by His Excellency Mar Stephen Chirappanath, the Apostolic Visitator to the Syro-Malabar faithful in Europe. It was a historical and jubilant occasion.
The Syro-Malabar Church, also known as the Syro-Malabar Catholic Church, is an Eastern Church based in Kerala, India.
