Parents are emotional??? WOW! If their child was in that condition they would be emotional too. 5 years ago my daughter gave birth to what we thought was a healthy baby girl. 5 weeks after birth my daughter noticed something wasn't quite right. Long story short, at 6 weeks my precious 1st granddaughter was diagnosed with Infantile Pompe disease, it is fatal, IT WAS NOT ON THE NEWBORN SCREENING TEST! After many many people advocating for it to be on the NB SCREENING and many years later, Pompe is now on the NB SCREENING as of 2021!! My granddaughter has been getting treatment since she was 6 weeks old and to see her you would never know. She is a 5 year, happy, spunky, funny, bright, beautiful child. My heart breaks for you and Emmett. KEEP FIGHTING TO GET THIS ON THE NB SCREENING. TREATMENT IS FAR LESS EXPENSIVE THAN ALL THOSE MEDS AND THERAPIES. GOD BLESS YOU ALL.

“Parents are just emotional “ How the hell could you not be? I never heard of this disease before this video and am crying right now. If you aren’t emotional to some degree you aren’t human. If you are a parent of a child dealing with this you aren’t fit to be a parent if it doesn’t make you emotional!

That's literally the stupidest thing anyone could say, obviously the parents are going to be emotional if their child has a disease like this, I've never heard of this before either but I literally started crying, worst thing I could ever imagine would be to watch your child suffer or lose them, no parent should ever have to go through that. I feel so bad for all this kids and their families, I can't even imagine how it feels like. You'd have to be a really fucked up person to not get emotional even if it's not your child, a normal person should feel some emphaty for others.

Sadly, our prisons are full of human beings that will prove that phrase wrong… … The point is everybody starts out with the potential to do great things for themselves and humanity. Some choose to do terrible things, but with the right care and support families can provide all those necessary for a human being to flourish, and make the right decisions

@@crystalhaataja304 Emmet`s brain is meat loaf, he cant think, decide or feel anything besides physical pain. I dont think he deserves death penalty, but to be looked upon realistically. You dont have to do anything to him, just stop doing all this unnecessary stuff. And that doesnt have to be the case with other disabled children. E. g. children with down-syndrom are mostly very happy and want ot live and participate. This is not the case with this poor boy, he is just a shell.

Emmett’s story really touched my heart. My daughter was born into a life of nonstop surgeries and medical diagnosis from the age of 1-14. She just turned 14 on March 15, 2023. She was born with her eyes crossed, had to have her 1st surgery at one. She met all milestones but by the age of 3 she started regressing. She was than diagnosed with Autism level 5 with OCD. By her 6th birthday her eyes needed another surgery and she was losing eyesight. Than we noticed her back was growing into a strange curvature and she had sever pain. Scoliosis S Shaped, her spine was growing in her heart and right lung. 13 spinal fusion surgery. She also had her tonsils and Adenoids removed, due to being overly large and infection after infection. There’s so much more, I use to cry holding her as she cried in pain. (Chronic Pain Syndrome) I still do. She’s now 14, legally blind, autistic, CPS, back and leg pain so bad she screams. But hearing your story made me realize there’s kids that are sicker than my daughter. I am so sorry your going through this. My son was born with cerebral palsy on his left side, so I understand in away what your going through. God Bless you and Emmett, I will pray for your family.

Thankfully a family like Emmett’s convinced the state of Pennsylvania to add newborn screening for Kramer several years ago. It should be screened for in every state!

Wow! I've worked in hospitals and haven't seen an adult go through what this poor boy goes through on a daily basis. God bless his entire family and anyone that goes through Krabbe.

Shared this video on my facebook timeline. Not sure how much good it will do, but I'm hopeful I'll have educated at least one person within the next 24 hours. I'm in Wisconsin and am unsure if we have this as part of the newborn screening, but if we don't here, we absolutely should.
