I'm having flashbacks to Toy Story 3, but as Buster the dog

My grandmother's dog was the only babysitter I ever had. My mother used to put me out the door with her when I was 2. She'd herd me back into the house for meals and diaper changes and not let anyone come near me except my parents and one aunt. Not even my grandmother. Nobody was afraid of leaving me with her: I was the *third* human she'd raised. She picked her own successor, trained him to do her tricks (sit, stay, come, heel, and pick raspberries), and then died. He was with me for 11 years, until I went to college. I wanted to find an apartment and return to get him, but he committed suicide a few days later. I knew it was possible, I begged him to wait for me, but he was old and sick and didn't want to hang on without me.

My folks, wife, and the wife and my dog had to put down my folk's family dog of 13 years in October. Milo was the most sweet, kind, compassionate dog I've literally ever met. He didn't have a bad bone in his body. We had a vet service come and put Milo down in my parent's house. We were all there with him and he had his head on my feet as he had his last moments with us. We're all still devastated and my pound rescue Max the Carolina dog misses his best friend. Macky was the only dog Milo ever became friends with in an of his years, even though they had a rough start on their relationship. We all miss him so much it physically hurts. My pain doesn't make your pain any easier to manage, but know that you aren't alone. I'll pray for you and your heart. Bless you friend 🙏
