The plaintiff dated the defendant for a month and a half. The plaintiff claims the defendant went to jail for a parole violation. The plaintiff paid the bail bond, but the defendant hasn’t paid back the money, so the plaintiff is suing. The defendant says she and the plaintiff were never a couple. The defendant denies owing the plaintiff for anything.

Staying is oftentimes used to mean it’s intended to be temporary and you have an actual home somewhere else. As a child I would often stay with my grandparents during the summers. I would be there for two months with my belongings, but I didn’t “live” there. At the end of the summer they would put me on a plane and I would go home to my parents. As an adult I have stayed with friends and relatives when I go visit them and they stay with me when they come. So Judge Mathis should have asked if she had another residence. I have definitely seen long distance relationship couples where one will go “stay” with the other awhile. When you book a hotel it’s often called a two night or three night “stay” but there are also people who live in hotels because that’s their primary residence.
