Steve is def the GOAT but Arnel is reallllllllly f’ing good. My wife and I saw him live and he’s the closest thing you’ll ever hear next to Steve. But Steve just has that tone that sets him a step above.

Just two so that's not many. Steve Augeri was with the band for 7-8 years after Perry left in 1996. Then Arnel Pineda has been frontman ever since 2008. I was in high school when this was released and sang it too many a young lady in the back seat of my car while the cassette was playing.

My brother was at this 1981 Houston concert! I went to the 1983 Frontiers concert, when Journey played 3 sold out shows. My best friend and I went to the 2nd and 3rd shows!!! And again in1986 for the Raised On Radio tour, (which nobody knew, it was going to be Steve's last tour with Journey), And then for Steve's very first solo tour in 1994!! I just love me some Steve Perry!!!

My husband and I started dating in 1983 back in high school we’re now married 35 years and Open Arms was our song in high school and it is transcribed in our wedding rings!! We dated for about nine months I think before we broke up seeing each other off and on afterward but we’re broke up for about a year when we got back together and ended up staying together and this song just seemed to fit us which is why it’s my favorite Journey song and Steve Perry is my number one all-time male singer!!

No one compares to Steve Perry. He turns a bad day into a beautiful day. I was at the 1983 Frontiers concert with Mom. It was my first concert. I was in love with Journey then. They have always been my favorite band. We were poor. But Mom saved up money to take me to see Journey twice, buy me a Journey satin Jacket, put me in the Journey fan club every year. My mom was the best mom in the whole world. She did everything to try and make my life a little bit better.

The melody to Open Arms was already written by Jonathan Cain for his group the Babys but John Waite, lead vocalist for the group said it was too syrupy and passed on the song to be recorded by the Babys which used to open for Journey. When John stepped into Journey selected by the band and keyboardist Gregg Rolie when he decided to exit Journey in 1980, the melody for Open Arms was played to Steve Perry who lived the Melody and wanted to write lyrics to the song. Not all of the band was thrilled with
