The Hisense PX1-Pro is the latest 4k laser TV from Hisense and appears to be a better version of the Hisense L9G. The specs make it seem as if it's inferior but the test results tell a different story.

The max lumens rating on a projector is not generally for the most accurate picture mode. More people need to learn this - a brightness spec isn't the end all for USTs. Great work, as always, Chris!
@chrisbullock6477
@chrisbullock6477 2 жыл бұрын
Just fyi there is a lumens chart in the google search that shows what Lumens brightness is in comparison to Nits depending on the projection size. With an UST its going to be even greater because of the closeness to the wall. for a screen size between 90inches to 130inches you would be looking at anywhere between 800-950Nits.
@robertplas3947
@robertplas3947 Жыл бұрын
My understanding of lighting is that lumens is a measurement of light emitted by a source and nits is a measurement emitted or reflected by a source. So UST projector can output lumens while the reflected light back to our eyes would be nits. An oled tv sends light to our eyes measured in nits.

Thanks for the video. I'll wait for a sale to buy one. One thing extra about this is that you can connect them in series to make twice or possible 3 times the size/ width. A lot of money to spend but this is rarely mentioned. Mentioned in a KZfaq from a convention of sorts. Thank again.

I need you to review the AWOL UST projector, I am rocking it atm and by far one of the best I've ever had. It does allow you to go from 80"-150",it also has 3500 lumens which is great esp in my living room with 2 skylights and a set of triple windows. The game mode gets it to 30ms which has been good so far I haven't had any issues , the only downfall I feel is it doesn't have a built in smart features like the built in apps but they do give you a external device that hides really nice in there patent hidden case in the back. Overall I will not ever be going back to a tv after having this..... Great vid by the way this was my other option to look to buy before I got the AWOL

So, I have this projector, and I love it. I have it ceiling mounted. It looks great, we watch movies, shows, and game with it. The only issue is that after having it for a couple of months it started making this really loud buzzing. It's not like a fan noise you would hear on a PC, but a loud buzzing motor sound. Any ideas on what it could be? Thanks. Great review too 👍🏻

I love my L9G (also bought after your review), so this looks very promising. Laser tvs are an amazing 'cheat' for relative budge home theatres. The L9 feels more like a premium product, look and feel wise, but it was always a little hard to find, even last year. This looks like a good spot for people to jump in, but you absolutely need a good screen!

This looks like the same thing as the Bomaker Polaris (which uses Hisense as their OEM). The only differences I see are 2500 lumens vs 2200 and HDMI 2.1 vs 2.0 though I have also read this projector is limited to 60hz despite being HDMI 2.1 and accepting the signal, also slightly better speakers and Android TV, but seeing this, the Bomaker Polaris seems like the better deal priced at $2000 or so.

Great Review Chris. I've been watching a ton of your reviews on laser TVs. I opted to order this Hisense PX1-pro over the formovie theater because I could only find one vendor selling it, and I wasn't sure about support/warranty issues, with it being such a small company. Will this work with the Hisense 100 inch screen that comes with the L9 in a living room with some sunlight. We can close the blinds but we don't want blackout shades if that's possible.

Love your content . Somehow , I got the impression you didn’t give your complete endorsement for the PX1 ? The 60hz refresh rate issue and other things you mentioned ‘could be better ‘ seem like it means they refurbished the L9G with a pixel shifting tech , and thus the loss of Lumens? I personally can’t understand how the projectors only have 2 HDMI ? My OLED has 4 .. I need 1 for speakers, 1 for games , 1 for Apple TV , and the last for an NVIDIA source for true 4K movies .. why can’t we get a decent laser tv with at least 3 HDMI , with 1 for 4K at 120hz , native 3860 x 2160 , contrast same as the PX1, with the screen size adaptable 90” - 130” ? Is that just Sony and JVC regular throw ?

Hey Chris! Great review as always. I literally just bought the Hisense L9G from Best Buy last week while it was on sale for $4200 and have yet had the time to open it. Based on this review, I am now considering returning the L9G for the PX1-Pro as they seem to be about the same in terms of performance. My wife and I are turning our basement into a Home Theater and were having trouble deciding between the 120in and 100in versions fo the L9G... but this PX1-Pro seems to settle that issue with the manual focus. Not sure how I feel about the screen not being included as that will have me break even, $$$. Professional opinion... if you could exchange the L9G for the PX1-Pro, without any hassles, would you?

I’m confused .. @IanMcClarren said the L9G was $4200, but when I click on your link to the Hicense PX1 pro Amazon shows $2900 .. that’s a lot less money for a supposedly better projector ?

Would have been perfect if it supports 3D and actual 120hz, i don't even mind paying more for it.

PX1-Pro vs Samsung LSP7T vs Vava 4K , which one should I get and why? Seems like PX1-Pro is the dimmest at 28fL for 130" and 33fL at 120", LSP7T on goes up to 120" at 34fL, but Samsung states higher contrast 2M to 1 vs 1M to 1, and Vava is the brightest but most expensive right now (with sales on others and etc). Which one should I do for a bedroom with mostly late evening - night watching on the biggest screen possible? For movies and KZfaq viewing, not taking speakers into account as I have a good set and no 3D, nor HDR needed, also not taking into account the apps and interface too much as I will connect a Chromebook to it and run all videos from there 🙂 Please HELP asap 🙂

Hi Chris, would you recommend this or the Formovie after the shootout at the weekend? I was going to go PX1 until I saw the scores.

Epson ls12000 vs Samsung the premiere which one would you recommend, also to note that they are relatively similar ( a few hundred usd) in price in India due to lack of stock of epson. I have an lg CX OLED so would that affect my perception of black levels on a projector? My budget is around USD 6k. I need a projector for a dedicated home theater, so ambient light would not be an issue. Ust vs mounted is not an issue either. If you recommend any other that would be fine too.

How do you calibrate your projector? My PX1 Pro isn't as bright as I expected even in my light-controlled basement. I'm thinking calibrating will help, because just randomly fidgeting with settings isn't getting me anywhere. It's otherwise beautiful, just would like to bring a bit more brightness than what I'm getting.
