I had a 5 year old Vizio with pretty much 4k only. The current H8G is listed most places @949.00 and PC Richard and Sons had the U8H listed for 999.00. My research shows the U8H 100% better contrast ratio, 50% increased black levels. WIFI 6E, over the air ATSC 3.0. If all things being basically equal getting the latest was a no brainer for me @50.00.

They would've had more customers last year had they made the 75 inch, including me. That's the right play for them. 👍

GAHH!!! I have really liked my U8G but I was really looking forward to seeing the implementation of mini-LED, and looking at the direct side by sides here, I really am appreciating the reduction in blooming to near nothing, and the additional detail visible in dark sections of the screen. I definitely appreciate the now 2 year warranty too. But to be honest I also find the physical design of the U8G to be more appealing as well, and I particularly like the centered base which is important with my TV stand set up, though of course there are always aftermarket mounts to fix that issue. I unfortunately have the 55" version though, so I can't help but wonder whether the bloom reduction would be as impressive if I had been able to take advantage of the significantly increased number of dimming zones between the two sizes. I haven't seen much content comparing the differences between both sizes of the U8G so I would love to hear your thoughts on that! If I were picking a fresh new TV between the two of them today, I would think picking up the U8H is a no brainer with the extended warranty, and knowing that any shortcomings can still be improved via updates over the next year and a half. I also tend to lean a bit towards appreciation of cooler color palettes and that added vibrancy which I think plays a large part in that choice. Watching the side-by-sides though, there were a lot of scenes I was impressed by the difference in especially dark area detail and highlight vibrancy with the newer model, though there were also definitely a handful that you could really notice and appreciate the color palette/gradation of the U8H more. Because of that, idk that it's worth paying for an update, though there have ALREADY been some incredible deals on the new U8H that last year's never got, so come Black Friday this year, it may be an amazing chance to grab a U8H that I can't pass up even already owning the former. It's impossible to be able to get a real idea of the sound difference between the models, though I have to say from what I've heard of the U8H and my initial thoughts from seeing the added built in sub on the back panel, I would imagine the sound is pretty significantly improved, and better than most TVs across all price ranges. Oh, I've also gotta say that it's been about a year since I initially set up my TV and I'm one to constantly play with small adjustments even inside the same picture modes across different inputs, and depending on the time of day/lighting, and of course the type of content I'm watching. However, it looks like the out of the box accuracy is significantly worse than mine was last year, and would require more initial setup work than the former model did. Of course that's purely based on my recollection and first impressions here, Rtings doesn't even have a review up yet so I of course have no figures to actually back that up yet.

QUESTION(s): regarding the difference in black levels, am I silly for wanting to wait for the U8H to come back in stock when really, I don't have a dark movie room? There are big windows and honestly, my kids are the majority users of the TV. That said, at night, it's plenty dark with the curtains drawn and I want a really good movie experience when I actually have the time for a movie. Will I realize the difference between the two seeing as I don't have a perfectly dark room? These TV's seem to both be strong contenders. Thank you!

I picked up the U8H a few days ago, and am mostly loving it. There is one issue I'm hoping you or someone here can give me advice on. I am experiencing a huge crushed blacks problem in dark scenes, particularly on Netflix. Is there a fix for this, or is this more a Netflix problem?

How does it do in a natural bright room? I recently got the 65” LG C1 but the reflections from the windows make it difficult to watch during the day. Thinking of returning and going up to a 75” but unsure what TVs to consider. The tv is used to stream movies, shows and sports. It’s not used for gaming.

I have been contemplating on getting the U7G for a while now. But I have seen the U8H for $100 more. So it's a no brainer going for the newer model. But I seriously hate banding, is this more noticeable on a loading screen? Or in videos as well, like sunsets? Upgrading from a 2009 32 inch 720p Toshiba, that still works just as great.

Good morning, I was wondering if you could help me. I am looking for an affordable 75" at this time. We have a 65" Sony XJ900F Bravia now. Would the U8H be good with a PS5 and for streaming? We only use the PS5 about 25% of the time. We mostly enjoy Streaming Netflix and other platforms. Are there any other 75" under 2K that would be better? This TV would be in our finished basement.

Would you rather have if you had the choice, The Sony OLED A80 CJ 55 inch for $899 at Costco or get this new high sense 8H for $699 at Best Buy which do you think if you just mostly stream movies and are not a gamer would be the best choice?

The only thing with picking one or the other is whether I want to stick with Android TV or move on to Google TV. That's what the big difference is to me at this point.

If I have a 55" QN90B (I have a 43" QN90B for use as a PC monitor), I heard you said that you don't get any blooming with Hisense U8H, correct? I'll have to watch the video again and listen closely to what you said. A 55" is too large for me, but that bigger size is much cheaper than what I have. I wish my 43" QN90B had a lot more local dimming zones at that size. So yeah, 43" is large enough for watching movies and video content, but not too large to be used as a PC monitor. As soon as I get my own place, I would definitely go with whichever technology produces the deepest blacks while still be as bright (QD-OLED, but it's not suitable for reading text such as a document on a PC). I use eARC for my TV's built-in HDMI 2.1 ports. My computer's GPU connects to my TV, from TV to my HDMI audio extractor, and then the audio out goes into my Denon's HDMI input (AVR-X3400H). An eARC audio extractor is much cheaper than having to buy a new home theater receiver. My current HT receiver does not support eARC, which is unfortunate, but it's worth saving $300 over buying a new HT receiver with eARC support. That was a couple of years ago.

Is it me or does the u8h look like a matte computer monitor? From the videos I have seen, the image looks washed out. I don't know if this is actually the case but I do know that some people prefer a more glossy screen similar to the u8g where the colors look more punchy and the blacks look black not grey. I can notice the difference when Quantum has the lights on in the video like at 2:37 but it is hard to tell without seeing it in person.

There is a store near me in Nashville that has 4 or 5 open box 65-inch U8Gs for $599. And a couple of 75-inch U7G open box for $699. Crazy value...

PROCESSING QUESTION: I have very little 4K content. I have heard the U8H plays "Native" 4K in a wonderful way. But I have heard the U8H has problems with "Upconverting" the lower resolution signals such as 1080p Blu-ray, 720p cable, 480p/480i DVDs. I have far more lower resolution content than anything else, so "Upconverting" means a lot to me. I've been told the "Digital Noise" is not good. Which is better between the G and H? And how do the G and H compare to lower end LG and Sony models?

I am having trouble with my new U8H. For some reason while pc gaming the screen will go black for a couple seconds then pop back up. The tv isn't turning off when it does this. I've tried everything and can't seem to fix it. Hdmi is set to enhanced. Freesync is on and I tried multiple hdmi 2.1 cables. Gonna have to send it back if this persists and I just sent back a samsung qn90a for its terrible quality.

Sadly, while the U8H is $650 at Best Buy, no store near me has the U8H or U8G anywhere nearby and they don't offer delivery. Seems odd. And Amazon is wanting over $1K. The U8H does come calibrated pretty good out of the box. I'm looking to get the U8H or maybe the U7H 65" to replace my cheap 3yr old 58" Hisense u6 Roku from Walmart for $279. They are ok TV's but last no longer than 3yrs, at least the 3 we've had in our family.. On all, the Backlighting goes out after a year to 3 but, at that price? Just throw it away & buy another 1. However, I want to upgrade this year..

Just got the 65’ U8H im trying my hardest not to get another 😂 I cant wait!

I purchased a u8g 55 last November. It had sound issues from day one. Over 20 volume which is not that high, the right speaker sounded blown. Months later after haggling with their customer service, they said they couldn't find a tech in my area and so I'd have to send it in for repair so I did. Then I get a text message saying they received the TV and that it was broken and since they didn't have anything to replace it with, they would be issuing me a refund. Waiting for it currently. I don't think I'll buy another hisense.

NOTICE: I finally needed to return the Hisense U8H. The severe problems with "Stuttering" and "Posterization" and "Macroblocking" and "Lipsyncing" were NOT solved with the recent Firmware Updates. It is SO DISAPPOINTING Hisense would release a product with so many glitches and flaws. If Hisense had made the product just a little better and taken a bit longer to release it, I gladly would have paid a couple hundred dollars more to avoid those problems.

Everyone who has reviewed the tv does not do computer specs. The U8H loses the 120 hz at 4k. Only 8 bit not 10 bit on the computer either. Huge draw back! Huge! The U8G has this all! 120hz. at 4k.

I came here because I’m watching the 55U8G for a PS5 because have a HDMI 2.0 and 120Hz but I wanna make sure that I get the right color and picture quantity and a durable Tv and I’m not hundred percent sure if that’s the Tv you have in this video and I’m not totally sure which one is better for me

I think i'll hold out for another year, the u8g still has its place with me, even so i am always about upgrading... what i wanted banding to be fixed, be able to choose my color garments and keep it on 12 bit which depending on what im using from tv apps to ps5, the tv apps always brings me back to 10bit i really want the option to have a setting i can control the options to fix this.. the H giving better blacks and a few extra options sounds lovely but to fork out another same price i did last year i don't see it as a must do option... i'll hold out for another year or unless they put out a firmware update that changes the game... appreciate the review...
