Historic rainfall in Minnesota leads to catastrophic flooding

Record-breaking flooding has inundated towns in the Big Sioux River Valley in Iowa and South Dakota. At least one person was killed in South Dakota, Gov. Kristi Noem said. CBS News Minnesota reporter Jennifer Mayerle is in Waterville, Minnesota, a town fighting floodwaters of its own, with more on the weather.

I agree and more so when the cause is neither nature, God or climate change watch how they'll squeal soon enough that, that is the cause of the flooding and so called heat wave All as we have WSAC pumping tons of moisture in the air.

Waterville has had flooding problems. It flooded in 1968, 2014, 2019 and now 2024. My cabin was on Lake Tetonka and had flood insurance and the water came up my yard, flooded my basement and was as high as the firepit. We sold our cabin, because it flooded.

I live on a small river. Flood insurance is $2600 per year, plus your normal, fire, storm whatever. Crazy, I know, and my house is a small 3 bedroom cottage. The bigger the house, the more the cost!

I feel sorry for the people who lost their homes. Or all their stuff in the home. But as Sam kinison would say, move the f*** out of the floodplain. The reason is that everyone else who does not live in a flood plane have to pay for their stupidity.

It’s not always flood plains. With this much rain over a short time, the ground is saturated and the ditches alongside roadways become rivers.
