There's more to our wonderful Arboretum than meets the eye! While the trees and shrubbery offer a stunning backdrop, the park also boasts a rich history embodied in its iconic buildings:
Clock Tower: This Victorian landmark, with its redbrick exterior and pointed slate roof, isn't just a great photo opportunity - it served as one of the two original entrance lodges, keeping time in style since the 1880s.
Bandstand: First erected in 1873 for a mere £105, this timeless structure entertained crowds for decades. Its current incarnation, a modernised version erected in 1899, still stands proudly on the original site.
Boathouse: The charming boathouse echos the park's Victorian origins, a reminder of leisure activities enjoyed over a century ago.
These buildings are all enduring testaments to the Arboretum's rich past.
