HISTORICAL Hurricane TEDDY Swell | BIGGEST EAST COAST in Years!

Hurricane Teddy combined with a Nor'Easter to provide the biggest swell to hit Cape Hatteras since Winter Storm Riley in March 2018. And as the swell began to die, there was a window of said 12-15ft barrels, and a few bigger sets pushing near 20ft! One of the top biggest barreling days I've ever seen in the OBX.
And then on Day 2 we were graced with an all day wave feast, from dawn till dusk. What a blessing of surf after getting hammered for 5 days with the road closed and washed out.
And @Koa Rothman got to be here and witness it!

I thought I was going to dread a 42 minutes film but this is one of the best surfing vlogs I have seen in a long time. So many skilled surfers. So many giant waves. Action oriented from start to finish. Honestly I don't know how you had the stamina to continue through the entire second day. Very high quality and epic from start to finish!!!

Thank you for recording these epic days.At 63 years old my days of experiencing these kind of waves are over.In my younger days living in Cocoa beach in the late 70’s 76 thru 78 we experienced some epic days that were similar.No go pros,no digital cameras,only film and super 8.Worst of all no one to record the events.Only memories and old guy stories.By watching I do get to relive the images in my mind.Again thank you for sharing.I worked at Mike Tabeling’s surfboard shop in Cocoa during those years.

It’s about the story and adventure... sometimes that means it’s just me, sometimes it’s me and friends, sometimes it’s mostly empty waves. But if I only ever showed just me, I wouldn’t be telling the whole story.

This is one of my favorite videos on KZfaq for sure, I love how Brett and Cam were literally ripping and showing Koa Rothman and Mason Barnes how it’s done on the east coast, takes extreme skill and wave knowledge during swells like this on cape Hatteras. I just moved to Surf City (Topsail Island) after being land locked in Atlanta for 20 years. I grew up surfing in Florida (New Smyrna Beach) so I'm so stoked to be back at the beach. I still have my old ass Rip Curl short board but I'm to fat for it now so I bought a soft top retro fish to get my sea legs back. Can't wait to get back into the swing of things.

Been there, Done that. Lived in KDH, and KH when I was aboard the USCGC Point Brown at Oregon Inlet. Then moved to Buxton when I transferred to the Group Cape Hatteras. Loved those big days of NE'rs and post Hurricane swells. Loved those 10-15' days, only a couple of days it got 20-25' at the lighthouse before it moved back in 84-85

For the record Jeffrey only shoots the surf action... I shoot all the drone, b-roll, and editing. But the episodes couldn’t happen without Jeffrey filming the surf

love the new technology, my short board was a 9 foot "California Gun" , a big floater and fast paddler and I could catch anything! We rode some monsters in the 90's. But that....was totally insane! Being Surfed Out is the best high! Surfed Anastasia Island in 2000 after Floyd rolled through, they closed the bridge it was perfect and no one out but me, my wife and my neighbor.

I was surfing southern obx (Emerald isle) waves were 9-13 feet best surf I’ve ever had lived here all my life I’m glad you guys to experience the gnarly Ed’s of this hurricane!!

I was at Salter Path and it was some of the best surf I have ever seen in North Carolina in my 50 years. I don’t live at the beach I do you come down a lot but I’ve never seen surf quite like that especially at Salter Path ,Atlantic Beach area. I would love to see any video or pics you might have .

@@B1B904 I was staying at A Place At The Beach, so almost Fort Macon, when I was in highschool, so probably 94. There was a storm on the west side of Bermuda and the waves were awesome. I have never surfed, something I need to learn, but we boogie boarded all day. That night the waves were breaking 50 to 75 yards off the end of the pier just down the beach. The biggest waves I've ever seen in person. Wish I had known how to surf haha

Yo Brett, I’ve been going to Hatteras for years. And I’ve always wondered about Diamond Shoal. Yes, I know it runs about 8 miles out and it’s insane. But.... You have a drone, you live there and you have access to jet skis. So what about the far end of the shoal? With 2-3 Day old storm swell out of the northeast with a 5-10 mph south west breeze, and tow ins. I’m guessing and hour before to an hour after high tide. This might only work once every 5 years. But if anyone has the ability and equipment it’s you Bro. Think about it. You’d be the first. And in today’s surfing world, that very rare. Good Luck.

There was one swell a couple years ago where Will Skudin and a few other guys paddled out to a Montauk outside bar and got absolutely crushed, then a few years later they towed the same spot and got crazy tubes. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rsB0paajucC4eWg.html

DAMN. This was Crazy. I have never seen anything like that at OBX. Been goin there for 25 years. You are all Really amazing surfers. The details that you spoke of in terms of rip/high/low tide, etc is really great to a more novice who has been caught in many oceanic changes at OBX. I now realize after watching this Jaw-Dropping, 40 minutes of intense East Coast Surf Porn that anyone can get caught and so quickly in the currents of Cape Hatteras! Really enjoyed. Thanks

Hey Brett, I'm new to your channel and really enjoying your work. I live and surf in RI - we had some magical days up here as well, though it wasn't scary 15 ft hollow barrels. Thanks for walking us through the experience on Hatteras here. I was there last Nov for a fishing tourney and to do some surfing and will be missing it this year for sure.
