Full fight: • The Duel | Rapier
If you want to support my videos, then leave a subscription on my Patreon: www.patreon.com/user/membersh...
The duel at the bone mill, shows a historically inspired duel of the 17th century. After a fictitious insult, two duelists meet at the famous bone mill at the Devil's Wall in the Harz Mountains. They aim to humiliate their opponents in the face of witnesses and fight a duel to first blood.
The duelists are Elmar of the Hospitallers of Magdeburg in the garb of a 17th century nobleman and myself in the clothing of a young lansquenet. Elmar fights in the Spanish style, while I have mainly Italian sources as a basis for my fencing techniques. The seconds with rapiers, wheellock pistols and historical garb are Reeanecter of the Bastion Ravelin, feel free to have a look there: sanierungsverein-ravelin2.wee...

It's impressive that rapier-fighting actually still looks cool and cinematic when filmed realistically. Most weapons seem to have that "MMA vs. choreographed movie fighting" effect where real combat is a lot uglier and sloppier and less immediately dramatic to a layperson. Rapiers and Sabres seem to be a notable exception to this effect.
