Hey Sam! I was the one who sent you that postcard from 1911 (And it is the Mauretania) . I actually found that in a antique store and thought of you. I hope it wasn’t damaged during shipping. Hope you enjoy!

Hi Sam, I was very glad to see you got my three packages, I'm not much of a letter writer, sorry, I'm retired from the entertainment business, mostly 30 years of Star Trek and NASA astronauts, a few months ago I was googling Titanic as I have been fascinated since I was a teen, and that is how I discovered your KZfaq channel, at first I started to wonder what does a young person know about the Titanic, and after watching about a dozen of your documentaries, you won me over with great respect. I have mailed you one more item, which is a photo of me with one of my many guests that appeared in my shows, I hope you will enjoy it, it's of me with Millvina Dean who did a show for me about 7 years before she passed away. So I guess this is the letter that you were looking for. Also, BTW, I have been on 37 cruises starting in the 1980's. Keep making those KZfaq videos. Thanks.

So Sam, We heard a bang and you could feel it bit it was just a small shudder. Then everything stopped and all power was lost. About a minister that the announcements started. There were a lot of pets below decks in the care ferry area. So passengers were allowed give the animals extra food but they were not allowed to take them. We had no idea then how long we would be off the ship. The ship was dead in the water and we found out later it was a very dangerous area. The coast guard was actually doing some training really close to us and was there very quickly. We didn't get into the lifeboats since there was another ferry also close so it was determined to stay on the ship. That when the ships were lashed together. The planks to walk across from one ship to the other were put between the ships at the huge doors that were used to bring the cars on. Was quite scary since there was absolutely no info passrd to us. I'll type up a more detailed account and I have some copies of local newspaper accounts I'll send you. The entire stoyis quite incredible. I'll do my best to answ6all your questions. Take care and thanks for all you do.

Sam - I am easily double your age and have mentioned this before: I studied the Titanic in Jr. High before we knew she split in two. I also watched the movie 'Raise the Titanic' way back when and have to laugh that I thought it could be possible to raise her like they did. I am glad to see that you have many others who are younger than me who have the same enthusiasm that I do for these old ships. Keep up the good work!

Here's a tip for running that old Titanic software: either turn on Windows XP compatibility mode in the preferences menu and then compatibility tab (should work, can't guarantee 100%) or install windows 95 on a virtual machine such as Oracle Virtualbox, in that case screen recording would be quite easy depending on the host OS and your recording software

Hello Sam!! The pencil drawing, was really fine!! That definitely takes, a talented person, who's skillful and LOVES what, he/she is doing. On the Natural Geographic book, there was an accompling VHS video, to go with it. When you held up the book, I said to myself, I betcha it came out, around 1985-86. I know this because, my brother had the video, when it first came out. It was the very FIRST video of the wreck, dedicated to, Robert Ballard's find!!!

Happy Birthday Sam! I’m a huge fan of your channel! I loved Titanic ever since I was a little boy. Ever since the 1997 movie Titanic came out, I been fascinated and started to draw it, get books, the movies themselves, the models, almost everything you can think of. I also got the Sea Of Glass book you talked about thanks to you. Keep making videos and I would love to see and meet you in person one day! I’m a big Titanic enthusiast. You truly touched my life and made me want to learn even more about the Titanic than ever before! I plan to start drawing Titanic again soon (hopefully, since it’s been years since I last drew anything really, lol) and once I’m done I could send one to you, but we see. :)

Sam the picture frame the Titanic at Southampton drawing was in can be repaired, I have expertise in this as special staples likely held the frame together at the corners, plus when I was in high school I used to make picture frames by hand so repairing them is old hat to me, I am also very adept at engraving.

Hi Sam, Sorry I missed your birthday. I have been watching your channel for the last year (at least) and have truly enjoyed the information you have imparted in your videos, especially those on thr Titanic. Like many, I became fascinated with the ship and its demise in 1997 after James Cameron's film. I have since watched the 50s film of the same name with Barbara Stanwyck and the miniseries of the late 90s along with the Julian Fellowes movie from the 2000s. But I have gained an even deeper understanding through your videos than any of those movies or the various documentaries I have watched. I want to thank you so much for educating your viewers about the Titanic and the many other Maritime shipwrecks you've talked about. You truly have a gift for imparting knowledge in an easy to understand way that isn't pedantic. If you had chosen to be an educator, you would have been very successful, I believe! Keep up the great work!

Hi Sam love watching your videos especially the titanic ones I have a few ideas for you knowing you will put the best effort into detail first what is all passengers were ordered to boat deck immediately after hitting the iceberg and all doors windows etc were closed would the titanic have lasted longer even if only a short time? Also what are your thoughts on what the sinking would have looked like after titanic went under the water had she not broken in half? And something I have been thinking in regards to Frederick Fleet I understand after his survival of the titanic disaster his life was troubled and eventually took his own life, a thought I've had is, is it possible he and the other crew member on the lookout at the time may have been distracted possibly horseplay 🤔 or something and this may have delayed them seeing the iceberg? This could have what contributed to his guilt after sinking, interested to heat you thoughts.

22:44 This is similar to a theory, People thought Murdoch had actually seen the iceberg earlier than the lookouts, and also Fredrick Fleet was supplied with glasses onboard the Oceanic (2) As he was lookout onboard that ship. I kind of debunk the theory of The ship turning before Fleet saw the iceberg. As Hitchens was investigated. He started he saw it first and started steering. When the order “Hard a starboard” was given he turned the other way.
