Loved your video. Also played with my great grandmas buttons, which started my love of buttons. I was only 2yrs old, but a very busy girl.

What an amazing space , I would love something like that to display the artifacts I've found when metal detecting. Your own museum , I really love it , :) The button dies really impressed me ( even though we didn't get have a proper look) but from what I saw they look similar to early coin dies, which really made me appreciate the time and effort that went into the early buttons, even though each die would have same design the process of hammering each button ( like with hammered coins) would all appear the same, but a closer look will show some details are slightly offset compared to others, most hammered coins were offset, the people at the mint were paid by the amount they made,, they were discs of silver or copper alloy with the kings image and name, as long as they were the right weight nobody cared about anything else, whereas I would imagine more time and care would be spent lining up the design before hammering it, because they weren't for spending they were worn to show off s sign of wealth and status . Wonderful absolutely wonderful.

I am an author of historical fiction novels and am about to start a new novel based on a tin of buttons that is handed down from mother to daughter over the generations. Thank you for this video, it helped me identify when the buttons were made that I have in my own button tin. Theresa Dodaro
