In the beginning, guys had yell squads. It was collegiate, prestigious, and masculine.

It's similar to how Yoga and Pilates are considered feminine in USA even though both were started by men to keep themselves fit. I think it's the ballet and gymnastics like movements within cheerleading now with which made it considered feminine.

With men shipped off to war during WWII, women began filling in historically male-dominated work and other roles, including cheerleading. After that, emphasis of the sport slowly shifted from athleticism to the attractiveness of female cheerleaders.

As a cheerleader I find that your opinion does not matter and nothing you say can hurt me because your a random person who knows nothing about cheer and doesn't want to learn.
