I served 75-79 in the Technical Escort Unit at Edgewood Arsenal, then part of APG. Our operating areas were O field, J field, and Old O field. Much history in those places. A buried dump of WWII chem and WP weapons seized from the Nazis blew up near Old O field and scattered munitions over much of the peninsula. Early 50s IIRC.We had a large group of EOD personnel and they spent a fair amount of time recovering munitions that floated to ground level after major rains. Lots of smokers in the woods mainly.

EA-Edgewood Arsenal served humanity even if the data was achieved through inhumane strategies-tactics. Of course this conclusion is independent of my personal belief on how said data was determined-achieved. Having researched the researchers, men like James Ketchum, Leo Hollister, Ronald K. Siegel, Louis West, Ephraim Goodman, David E. Smith and dozens of other Researchers I feel confident our Pharmacological knowledge and many other arenas of Science were immeasurably improved by significant margins as a result of such men & women.

Edgewood, Maryland is my home town of which I grew up & still live at to this day. I moved away a couple times, always ended up being pulled back!

I treated the waste from that mustard agent disposal operation. They hauled it to the Dupont Chambers Works waste water facility. They will deny that as the Township ultimately said no. But as I saw it we indeed offloaded tankers from Edgemore with that crazy smelling liquid. Being in a chemical plants waste water treatment facility you get accustomed to unique smells. This stuff was by far the strangest smelling I've encountered. Kinda skunky smell but sweet. Offloaded into giant surge tanks so we could trickle it into the system so it didn't kill the bugs

Wild how civilian employees get held accountable for dumping but not the government. My question is is the Edgewood arsenal grounds contaminated or full of unexploded items that make it a dangerous place.

And they say no trespassing on the shores because of unexploded ordinance, but none ever explode. They still find ordinance in Europe from WWII

And I do all my fishing and crabbing on the river right next to it. They are monitoring the creeks, most of the contamination has washed out by now. The buildings where the chemical agents where mixed and built into munitions, their wastewater drained into the nearest creek.
